Default Gas tank Clunk line

What do you use for the clunk line??? Tygon??

I drain my tank after flying and every season end up with a stiffy in the tank!!

Some say to leave fuel in the tank...but that stinks.....

So have any of you rocket scientists figured out a better clunk line??

Or are you doing the clunk line mambo every season , too??

I swap out all of my gas lines every year. Some lines have still been soft and just like new and others have been really stiff. IMO it's alot cheaper and safer to spend 5 bucks and change it out than it is to loose a plane to a failure. And if you pull the tank apart to inspect it, might as well just replace it as long as your in there.

Just make sure to put a section of brass tubing in the middle of the clunk line. It's pretty flexible stuff.

I've switched from Tygon to Aerotrend (the blue fuel line). Doesn't harden like Tygon does and it's semi transparent. www.aerotrend.com

This is what I use as well but Ive found even the brass tubing wont prevent the flexible neoprene from getting stuck in the front of the tank..What I did was use a piece of tygon then connect a piece of neoprene at the end..the stiff tygon keeps the neoprene from bending over itself but its still flexible at the clunk end..

I too use Aerotrend fuel line. They have a line called "EZ FLEX" I have never had this stuff stiffen up. I use it on the clunk line as well as a secound line for filling and empting the tank. I also feel that using a tank over 24 ozs and having a felt cluck on the end of the pickup line, there is no chance of the clunk getting stuck anywhere in the tank.

I also look at my fuel line each spring as my season starting maintenance.

Works for me.

I have always used 5/32 line Tygon, is the 1/8 blue line what you guys are using for the 50's and 100's??

I have so many lines to replace I am going to buy a spool...

The 1/8" is fine. The phone number for Aerotrend is on the website if have questions. I bought a spool because I was tired of the Tygon getting hard. It's about a dollar a foot, but worth it. Easy Flex is what I have as well.
