I have the Yak and love the way it fly's, I built it with all carbon parts to replace the aluminum and titanium axles and Kavan tires. if you keep it light like 15.5 lbs it's killer. I only have 1 gallon threw the DA and it's badass!

I have not flown the AW 260 but I have the 104" AW YAK. It is a really great plane and flies IMAC as good as anything out there in this size. Joe Hunt who had been flying the 260 did a build thread on his new YAK over on the Cirkus site. He says he now prefers the YAK. He is more orientated towards 3-D. The quality of the AW planes is the most like a custom built plane I have ever seen in an ARF. You will be happy with which ever AW you choose.

I've been flying both for the past few weeks. It really depends on what you want to do, Both 3D and do percision great but I think the 260 is more suited to the newer 3D pilot as it is a little more stable in high alpha. The Yak is a VERY true flyer and is the smoothest plane I have flown to date. So it really comes down to what you want to do with the plane.

Thanks Mark,I tell you ,these aeroworks are awesome, the quality is like nothing i have ever seen on a arf,and the covering job is perfect on mine, never had a wrinkle.I ran this thread for a friend of mine ,he wants to compete in imac and loves my 260,he can't decide which one to get.I told him we'll ask the pros./
I want the 40% ,i know that bird has to be awsome. Thanks for the input.

Off2Fly,
Well this weekend was the SouthWest Region Spring IMAC. This was my second time competing in IMAC. I have only been flying RC about 10 months total. Anyway the first day I flew pretty well ending 4th out of 22 pilots. Zac West gave my calling partner and me some advise befor the Sunday rounds. He said that the plane wants to fly straight, so just stop giving so many inputs and let the plane do what it is designed to do. On Sunday I did what he suggested and just let the plane fly the way it Rocco designed it to. I won all three rounds and ended up winning the event. The AW YAK loves to fly IMAC, if that is your primary focus, I agree with Marc, It is hard to beat. -STEVE- |
