Default Does Size Really Matter?

So your impressed with Snap's 50% Edge from the Hempel stable eh!!

Well ever since man learned to make toys to play with, the inevitable question of size versus the fun factor has been an issue. You know the old adage of “The man who dies with the most toys wins” was always the fashion statement. I suppose that insinuated that idle mens' minds needed lots of small toys to occupy the void. These days, however, that statement is being turned around by the new one “ He who has the biggest toy wins”. That likely insinuates that one big toy can occupy the same void as the earlier stated “lots of little ones”, again however only in the idle male mind, of course.

So if you think size does not matter then you need to take a hard look at the forums gracing our front page these days,

50% Edge !!!!!!!

172 “ profile rah rah rah.

Honestly, they are everywhere and giant is hardly even a word to describe them anymore. Then to add insult to injury for all of us 120 inch ( 40% ers) Jared (jarednutcase3d) is about to jam a little old 3W200 in the front of this 172 inch profile for power. Now a 172 inch profile is insane to start with, but a 20hp honker on the front end for power takes the phrase "insane power" to an all new level.

OK lets put a little perspective on this thing so you guys and gals in feet and inches or metrics get a real handle on what this toy is all about. The wing span is 172 inches, that’s 14 ft and four inches, for you metric guys that’s 4.5 meters. Is that big? Will that satisfty the desire for size?? Well for most of us earthly giant scale fanatics that’s big and probably likely to be considered big enough but oh no, not for Jared. It's not even close to the end of the line for him and his cohorts. Look hard at the thread and you see a subtle reference to the BIG PUPPY that’s due to arrive soon.

Yes the guys got a complex, no doubt about it. The next taxi off the rank is a 66% Ultimate powered by a 3W 684 engine. Now that’s going to surely satisfy the desire to demonstrate who’s the biggest kid on the block.

If you need further evidence take at look at the thread:

http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...profile-3.html

If you suffer from an anxiety complex then please don’t read further, this will just ruin your day.

That thing is HUGE!!!!!

I am glad that I am only about 200 miles from that plane. Hopefully I'll get to see it fly in person this summer.

Hook up a real plane with R/C gear; when you want to fly it yourself just disable the RC gear. They make full scale planes target drones for testing all sorts of weapons. Somewhat of a shame to see those awesome fighters of their day meet their makers soley to be blown of the sky!

That large profile reminds me of a 70% plane someone built but I guess for legal reasons never flown?

Did Bob Sawyer down in San Antonio every fly that big Edge? It took three other guys beside me to lift the tail up for a photo of the winners after our IMAC contest. I think it has an untralight engine in it.

Bobby, the guy in the picture that is building the huge profile, John Light, owns that 70% Edge now.

And no, it has not been flown yet.
