Default 3W 170 WHO'S GOT ONE?????

On the new 3W 170, I was wondering who has some of time on one and what your opinions are so far?

I have a 170CS TS on order. I will be replacing the 200 in my ultimate with it. Looks like I'll gain 1hp and drop 2 pounds.

I was thinking along those same lines. I just wanted to see if the guys that got one of these (only a few have made it to the States) could shed some light on the overall performance.

I'm actually building the same airframe you are. I will be going with cans, and I haven't decided on a prop yet. My guess is, as powerful as the 157 is the 170 should be a monster, and it should rip any 32" 2 blade you choose. That's really why I asked here if anyone has flown one of these yet. Good luck and keep me informed on your experience.

32" would rip like hell.

I am runing a Fuchs 33x12 on a 38lb Dalton 3w150QS on cans. Very strong and super quiet, I would go as far to say as quiet as a 3 blade.

The 33x12 should be the prop of choice on the 170 and will turn 300-500 more rpm over the 157.

A Croma 180 rips a 33x12. They are using Mejlick 28.5x12 s three blabes with success.

Only time will tell,I should have mine in the air next weekend.I can say the 29x12 3 blade may be a bit small for the 170.When I ran it on my 157,it ripped the snot out of it.Once the 170 is broken in I plan to try a 30x12

Which do you think would be best for break in, a 2 Blade or 3 Blade? I plan to fly a 3 blade once broken in.

3DUBYA here in Australia is running a 170CS on 1090 pipes in an Extreme Compisite 3.1 260, at the moment it is on a 32x12 PT and is ripping it at under half throttle, the engine is an absolute powerhouse, he is waiting on some bigger props to try, I am thinking it will turn a 34x12 with no problem at all, this motor is a huge jump from the 157.
