Default Older 3W-60

I'm shopping for a 60cc and I found a older 3W-60 with side carb, pitts smoke muffler and 4.8 volt
ignition. The engine has never been started or installed in a model. Ignition is
still in the bag. I'm getting a good deal for under 500.00. Does anybody have a older 3W-60
like this? I can't find the specs. I was wondering how it would compare to the new rear carb
model. Engine with muffler is 5.0 lbs. Just wondering if I should grab it or go with a newer 60cc
at 300.00 more..

well the mufflers are 100.00 and why would you need standoffs when you can make a spacer plate for 2 bucks and as for shipping you can't have everything. hahahahah

Gee.. you throw out a question and you get lectured. Let me rephrase the question.

How does a 3W-60 side carb compare to the newer 3W-60cc with the rear carb?

Ahh .... Never mind I'll buy a DA..

My first 3W was the 60K. Great motor, 5.6 HP, turned a 22X10 Menz great, don't remember the RPM's. Liked it so much I bought another one here recently, going on my Double Vision. Kind of a pain with the carb sticking out the side, and you need to change the spark plug cap to the new style with the silicone inside, the old ones are junk and leak voltage. About 20 bucks and 5 minutes to change it.

I have one and it is not that powerful. I have also heard that parts are unavailable. I would go with one of the new chinese 50CC engines(DL-50,3MM 53) if you are on a budget or get a newer version of the 60 if you have to have the extra displacement and have the money. I would not buy the 60. If you really want one let me know, I will sell you mine for a LOT less than $500.00 but it is used and does come with a pitts muffler and shipping included. It makes about what a modern 50cc engine does power-wise but weighs more than most 80cc engines So it really doesn't fit well in modern design airframes because most 50cc are designed to balance with a lot less engine weight.

Actually 450.00 was the asking price. I had a feeling that this engine might
not have parts support from 3W any longer. I'll pass on this deal
and plan on modern 58 or 60cc er.

Thanks again..

the new rear carb 60's have more tourqe thaqn the older engines and a better low and midrange.you would be happier with a new style engine over the older ones as for parts, you are right on.and i was just pokin fun your way so you can calm down now.ok? hahahah
