I see there is a new software update for the 14mz, it was posted on 03/21/07. The only problem I notice is that the file is named for the 12mz. Has anyone tried this update yet? I want to here from Futaba first to make sure it is the right file and not for the 12 mz.

I have downloaded the update for 14 mz. Yes there is a file name for 12z in that update. All the 14 updates have this. I was successful with the downloading and it all works fine.

yes...there's an update for the 14 and an update for the 12...found them both on the futaba flyers club site.
...now the big question is what was changed in this update? I see something about a Mode A and Mode B for G3 modulation? The doc included with the update says Mode B is a more reliable link but has slightly slower response rate. Is this change meant to help those who've had some interference problems with G3? Here is a short list of the changes that I have found.
1. We now have channel 13,14 like the 14MZ 2. We can now run positive shift ppm receivers 3. We can have 12 channels in ppm mode (I wonder if this has to do with 2.4 gig) 4. We now can have logic with our switch assignments (using and or logic) 5. The mode selection on the G3 rx, which changes the sensitivity of the receiver for noisey enviroments. ( this is only part of the 5114 rx not the 5014) There may be more items, but this is what I have found. |

It also has a software version of a cyclic ring for use with helicopters if you are in the that. I never liked a cyclic ring on the radio because I fly planes also.

Throttle limiter for helis, sets absolute high and low throttle servo limits. Electronic cyclic ring. There may be others but I am not near my transmitter so can't say for sure. Later; D.W. |

There is a PDF that comes with the upgrade that defines all of the changes. I upgraded mine last week , so far so good.

Mr. Quist is speaking about the 12Z update. That did add some functions to the 12Z that were previously only available on the 14MZ.
