Hi!
Today I tested my DL-50 on a 17.4 lbs Yak-54/ Aeroworks. Here is the data: 27 degrees Celsius temperature DL-50 ver.2 Stock muffler low: 1600 high: 7400 prop: Menz 22x8 Less than half a gallon through the engine. What do you think about that? ![]() ![]()

DL100 (bluebox)
Slimline mufflers Xoar 27x10 first tank of fuel Pennzoil 32/1 1700' asl 15C or 60F 6000rpm I will repost when it gets broke in to see the difference in rpm. Update #1 I have a little over 2 gallons through it and it is now taching 6240 rpm. The prop is ripping in the air like crazy. Update #2 Just passed the 4 gallon mark now that I have a wing tube again. The engine is now turning 6420 hot. Last edited by Super08; 06-13-2009 at 11:00 PM. |

FTL26cc side carb engine:
7000rpm with a Turnigy 16x8 Cherry prop. 1740 idle. 15' ASL 85*F 85% humidity This was after about 32oz of 32:1 Pennzoil Aircooled. Good acceleration, seems very smooth, a vibe at 2700 rpm, but that my just be the harmonics of the plane it's in.

My 2 cents
ZDZ100BN2 MSC 26X10 Premium gas, 40:1 Penzoil BCM dual Pitts muffler - 6000 DL individual mufflers - 6050 and I think this sucks

Something is wrong.. A buddy of mine has an old ZDZ 100 twin on standard mufflers that would rip the snot out of a 27x10 -- it was stronger than a few DA 100s (with better throttle response, too). It yanked his 28lb 35% Extra around with no problems. |

DA 170 with KS95(v4) cannisters, at 10.5 inch header length.
Motor just switched to 50:1 H1R synthetic mix. ALL RPMs are from Eagletree wireless telemtry & recording system. 32x10 Mezjlik: Ground rpm = 5750; In flight = 6150. 3W 3D prop: Ground rpm = 5600; In flight = 6600. The 3W 3D prop unloads like crazy.....it will pass noise test on the ground though. I am in the process of installing rpm/temp sensors in my other engines....if this thread keeps living till then, I'll post data for DA100, 3W-150CS & 3W-55CS as well. By the way, on the DA170, on a 100F ambient day(normal summer morning in phoenix!) the rear side of the outer fin gets to just about 300F on a full-throttle upline. Hover temps are actually lower....like 260-270F. The front of the engine cylinders are 100F cooler. Essentially any temp reading with an IR gun at the front of cylinder is crap....that's what I learned, and this was subsequently confirmed by a few other folks who had similar telemetry data. Thanks, Lakshmi |

Lakshmi, you hit the nail on the head. Temps from front to back can vary widely, as so can flying verses ground temps. In-flight is the only true reading, and best taken on the backside at the hottest part of the cylinder. I have been using a $20 venom gauge for years, not nearly as nice as the eagle tree though.

I was surprised to learn what I did using the eagletree systems...but that was confirmed by other eagletree users as well.
It's hard to argue with actual data! As they say....Live & learn! What is this venom gauge? How does it work? Is it in flight measurement? |
