No worries mate, it's just two pilots and a lot of boxes, and I usually don't fly the Honolulu-Sydney route!

Sounds like pretty good performance for an older setup. Nice!

Question..... does a Mejlik spin faster or slower than a Menz on the same motor?? Anyone done back to back between the two prop brands???
Mejzlik spins faster, compared to Menz-S prop shapes.
Most wooden props impose a heavier load on the engine than carbon due to the design limitations in wood, which would make them too fragile.

Isn't bench running a no-no for gassers? I heard it is a sure way to overheat the engines as they are never under full load at zero airspeed to extended periods in flight.

How did you do the bench run and ensure that it didn't cook?

You can bench run if you don't push them hard and only hit WOT in short bursts. One of 3W's break in procedures call for running at low rpm for 2-4 hours. I usually run mine on the plane/ground long enough to set the needles and make sure it will stay running, idle well, etc, then put it in the air.

Thanks RTK. Makes sense. I'd follow your advice with respect to settling needles and then flying the break in nice and easy.
