Wishing I was flying

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to say thanks for the memories and chance to fly with the best. I have always appreciated all the hard work the CAF has put into the DLM and their attempts to let anyone qualified have the chance to compete at a world class event. I’ll miss the DLM, but I can not wait to hang out with all my friends I’ve made at DLM, just at other events. I’d like to share some of my memories: -It seemed like a Hurricane was always on it’s way to NC around the DLM making me late -I got to see a relatively unknown at the time Jason Noll kick butt at one of his first big events and then watch Jason Schulman, Frank Noll, Peter Goldsmith and QQ take home the gold -I got to see Warren Thomas do and survive one of the lowest knife edge cross snaps ever seen - I was there when Rasom Fairchild proposed during his freestyle -While at the BBQ I got to see the first planes fly over Mr. Pat’s house to land at GSP once planes started flying again after 9/11. Really cool memories, Thanks guys and see ya at the NallJ |

The Joe Nall is not going anywhere! In fact we're more amped about everything we do at Triple Tree. The decision was a real bear to make, but the bottom line is we needed to concentrate our efforts on what we do best,HAVE FUN!!!

Wow, I am not sure what to say about hearing this today. Thanks so much for the effort and work by everyone over the many years of very hard work to have made this happen. We all are better off from the efforts put into the DLM and the sweat of all those who were there in front and behind the scenes.
Hopefully something will develop to substitute the DLM, but nothing will replace it Thanks very much! Will B P.S. I don't have as many memories as you do since I was only there twice, but mine are just as fond.

Its really sad news to have a contest like this fade away. I never got to attend the masters, but it was something i have strived to one day compete in. I hope someone somewhere steps in and presents a contest as high class as the masters to give all us hopefulls something to dream about.

One thing is for sure. There should be some sort of privately held tournament that will decide the best overall aerobatic (pattern/freestyle) pilot in the world!!

Bummer.
Thanks to everyone that helped with this event in the past. Luckily, my son Matt and I were able to attend the last DLM. I had a good time, but my son had an EXTREME time there. He was a scribe for Dick Smith for part of a day, and then called for Beavis during his last freestyle round. He will never, ever, forget that. I really applaud Pat Hartness for hosting this event. I'm especially pleased that he was moving towards making the event a quiet one, by mandating quiet planes. This is the type of encouragement that manufacturers need. I only hope that some other venue picks up this ball and carries it onward. I am very pleased that the Youth Masters will continue. Matt had just been flying for a few months when he entered the YM last year, and he had a wonderful time. We will most certainly be back this year (and with a better foamie for the informal freestyle event!!!). Now that I think of it, Matt and I have been to three events at TT in the last year: Joe Nall, the Youth Masters, and the Don Lowe Masters. Everytime was awesome. We have always left there with memories that will last, and with new friendships formed.

there won't be any money. but when you die...on your deathbed...you will receive total conciousness. So I got THAT going for me.
I kind of feel like that's how this is going! |
