Hello Jmiricle,

Any chance you can post some pics of the tab connection to the stab? I have a similar Pitts 12 and would sure like to make this modification.

Bill,

I didn't build this one and I'm not the owner, so I don't have access to pics. What I can tell you is it's just a couple of standard control horns with a pushrod connected between them. It's really very simple and if you look closely at any of the profile shots, you can see the pushrod on the side of the rudder.

Now, IMO ONLY, I would not make this mod. While yes, it may take off SOME load from the servos, I don't feel it can make any appreciable difference. I've also noticed that the TE of the surfaces seems to be significantly weakened by this mod. The rudder and elevs are fairly flexible in their current state. It would take some significant internal bracing to regain any rigidity.

IMO ONLY, the gains from this mod are not worth the trade-offs...

Regardless, they do look cool as he!! and attract a lot of attention at the field.

I was talking with a guy in the STL area that has one of these and he said that he did a couple of lightning mods to his and I believe he said that it was 34 lbs.
