Default Batteries next to RX

Is it a NO NO to have the batteries next to the RX, or doesn't it matter?

Default Re: Batteries next to RX

Well....I had a 4cell nicad pack right behind my receiver on a big stick 40. My first plane! When it lawn darted, the battery becaming a "batterying" ram. (haha I kill myself) It destroyed the receiver even though it was packed in foam and dented the niad cells on one side! In that instance it definitely wasn't a good idea to have them in that configuation. In my next few planes I made sure the reveiver wasn't in the line of flight just in case.
