Default The new Axi 5345-16 with a Hacker motor mount...

Hi friends around!

Last week, i got the equipment for my WH 28% Extra EP - conversion:

The motor: Axi 5345-16, that's an 895 gramm Outrunner with 195 kv. This motor will give me 3kW at 74 Amps from 12S LiPo (and can handle more!)

The ESC: Jeti Spin99, that ESC handles up to 12 cells LiPo with 90 Amps and stores temp/ rpm/voltages and so on during flight (all min/max) and is programmed with the "SpinBox" you can see in the picture (SpinBox also does the storage readout)

The Prop is an 22X10 APC - E.

The Balancer: Schulze LiPoProfiBal14, that balancer handles 2 - 14 cell LiPo battery packs and does not work with load resistors. it works by transferring energy from cells with higher voltages to cells with lower voltages what brings several advantages: it does not get hot and the charging is faster because no charging energy is "abused " just for heating...

Last Friday, i also got the battery packs:

I take 8 of Saehan2500 3S1P packs to build a 12S2P5000

Today i modified a motormount set from hacker (for the Hacker A60 Motor) to fit for my Axi 5345. The back of the outrunner is caught in a 10mm ball bearing to hold all dynamic loads in aerobatic flights. I also found a good place for the Jeti Spin99 ESC on the side of that mount - so he gets a lot of fresh air for cooling.

Tomorrow, this unit goes into the WH Extra; pics to come then...

Best regards from Leipzig/ Germany de Frank

I guess this is obvious but 2 6s5000 packs would be alot easier to charge and maintain.

Why that? It takes to long or requires 2 chargers.

I am using a Pulsar2 Charger from Elprog. That thing charges up to 12S with 275 Watts max.

Didi it several times this weekend, because my WH Extra flies now!

Have a look at this:

Video (it was late evening but it looks like there has been enough light for the DSC):

(OK, i am truely not the Aerobatic expert; buti want to learn it with this plane - that's why i bought it )

A little Photo - Gallery from yesterday also:

Default WH 28% Extra300 EP with Axi 5345: pics from the inside...

Hi friends around!

Like promised: here are some pics from the built in equipment

BTW: I would like to know what RPM's a DA50 does on a 22X10 to have an idea about the power comparison.
The Axi 5345 on 12 LiPo did 7250 in flight according to the memory read out from the Jeti Spin99 ESC today.

If any questions come up abt. the setup - please ask; you're welcome!

What's inside:

Motor: Axi 5345 Outrunner
ESC:Jeti Spin99
Prop: APC 22 X 10 E
Battery: 12S2P5000 Saehan LiPo

Servos: Hitec HS5955MG on rudder, HS5945 on ailerons and elevators.

RX: 2 X ACT DDS10 with IRDA Programming Interface
(Receivers are interlinked together and work as a true antenna diversity system!)

Power Management: Emcotec DPSI BIC with 2 2S1P2000 Kokam LiPo as RX- batteries.

Another little Video; again on a windy day (last Saturday) to get an idea abt. what the Axi outrunner does with the plane; this time with a Menz 22 X 8 (7710 RPM in flight)

http://web2.lvps80-86-91-66.webperoni.de/WH_Extra300_14.04.2k7.wmv

Yes, you are right; I am not even near to be an aerobatic expert so pse don't laugh too loud abt. my flying

Best regards from Leipzig/ Germany de Frank.

Hi!

Wasnt easy to find out where to get a Wild AHre plane in Germany :-)

I bought it at EMHW.de; the distributor in EU is Probuild.co.uk.

In US why not buy Wild hare planes at Wild hare: www.wildharerc.com

The quality of material and built is very good and Tom Fawcett does a very good product support via Mail, at DOD, etc.

Hi again!

Have a look at the photos: it's the Emcotec DPSI BIC. I bought it at my LHS here - but i don't know where you can buy Emcotec stuff in your area in the US?

I am going to try out a 5345/18 on my plane , did you use the mount and rear bearing setup(a60) by just putting the other prop mount on and sliding it into the hacker rear bearing/holder?

also I noticed model motors does not recomend radial mount on 5345s with big props

did you have any trouble/vibration befoe you made this new mount system?

thank you very much

Hi Kevin!

Yes, you are right: on the backsinder, you can see prop holder that comes with the Axi 5345. It is milled (right word?) down to fit the ball bearing that is in the hacker A60 Motor mount.

No, i did not have any vibrations before (never tried it before; used this motor mount from the beginning). I used the hacker motor BECAUSE i read that Model motors not recommends the radial prop mounting in aerobatic planes.

My thoughts about that have been easy: if they don't recommend it - maybe i can also get problems in normal aebrobatics or "harder" flown patterns. I need a motor mount - so why not stay on the safe side and use the hacker mount :-)

Took abt. an hr to get everything to fit and to get it into the plane - i like this!

BTW: I also will try out the 5345-18. Now, with more than 30 Degrees celsius her ein germany, sometime the batteries have 50 - 60 degr. celsius after flight and i want to bring down the Amps a bit and so i am interested to see if the bigger prop's ETA, i can use with the 5345-18 will have an impact on the thrust compared to the Amps.

Best regards de Frank

Thank you, I think if you go to 5345/18 you will be able to go bigger prop or lose some amps for cooler batteries.

I am using hyperion z50 45 18 in the same motor mount you have
it is just like the hacker A60 18 L

apc 24x12e 12s 4350s 78/80 amps 3,500 watts

Aehm - great *lol* The whole Electrics from my WH Extra meanwhile sits in my Extreme Flight 88" Yak54 :-)

I run it there with 23X8 Mejzlik on 96 Amps max. with 4070 Watts max. - Power is great!

Want to have a look? See:
://video.google.de/videoplay?docid=-1706036739693520470
Thats me and my Yak on a very windy day in July...

I had 7:30 mins on my TX Tuimer with the Extra, but the Yak need some more power because of the big fuselage and the more weight. So the Yak is 6:30 Mins on my TX Timer. in both cases, i have to recharge around 4000 mAh, so quite healthy for the batteries.

Next plane for me here is an Extra330L with 88" Wingspan, powered again by 12S - LiPo's with Hyperion z5045-18B, so also Kevins Info about this Outrunner is hitting the point for me now. I got this motor for a review again for the German "AUFWIND" Magazine. Just bought the plane and starting to build it now with same Servos, ESC, Power System etc.

Best regards from Germany!

Does anyone still read this channel? I just bought the 5345/16 motor and I would appreciate anyone's comments on how to mount it to my 50CC size Extra 300.
