Not all of E-flites stuff is junk. The new stuff is not even in the same league as the older stuff. I flew the living snot out of the Mini-FuntanaX and loved it. I will replace it with the 260 this summer.

ditto on the David Payne scheme. I was going to use it on a 35% one day... but it will be a little common now.

The problem with the small e-flites in my opinion is the lack of leading edge sheeting. Think about it, most nice flying electrics in this size have LE sheeting which creates a reasonably accurate airfoil. Without the sheeting the covering shrinks into what resembles a concave LE... no wonder it doesn't fly as well!

I had this theory on the mini-funtana but never put the time into changing mine. If any of you have the time and one of the others lying around..... let me know how some 1mm sheeting on the LE improves things. I think even a longeron on the top and bottom of the wing about 1in back from the LE would help.

David Payne scheme yak attached

I too had problems with the E-flite Mini Edge. The plane is just unstable. With the recommended combo set up it was just way to heavy in my opinion. I had a difficult time getting the CG forward. Low and slow not with that plane. I have my order in for the extra 260. Horizon said I should have it around the 15th. The gear in the mini edge is looking for a home. My last landing with that plane resulted in a tip stall and a cart wheel. Both outer leading edges mushroomed motor mount broken and the battery which was close to the fire ended up in the cowl. This was my first balsa arf and not the last. I plan to uncover it and rebuild just for the practice probably won't see the sky again by me. I just received the kantana md and waiting on the motor and servos. That thing is beautiful. Hopefully I can land it easier than the edge.

Don't worry about the leading edge sheeting, The Mini Funtana X doesn't have it and mine has been cartwheeled several times and the only thing to break was the prop and SFG's. Certainly don't notice it while flying either.

I was considering one of those but choose the filton min i extra 260 instead. It is the same size and 4 or 5 oz lighter.

The Fliton looks like it should be a good performer. The E-Flight sure does look much better though. Also noticed it (E-Flight) has built up ailerons. Don't really know if that matters or not.

Flat ailerons at the end of the airfoil I assume, circa h9 twist, sig se, etc.

Fliton has flat ailerons, the E-flight ailerons continue the shape of the airfoil like a giant scale plane. dunno if it matters, just an observation

Nobody flying this thing in FG? Most people who have one compare it advantageously to the other "fast food arf's" readily available in hobby shops.

People say all kinds of things about eflite (people say a lot of things) I am not discussing their entire product line, all i am saying is this particular model is a nice offering.

Here is a video of some flying this saturday;

And a little blooper;

hey aflipz, glad to see you're on FG too. Mine just arrived this week. I'll have it in the air pretty soon.

I have one of these, and it is the best built up small electric I have flown. It handles like a larger plane and hardly requres any input when in knife edge.
