Time to cancel that Horizon order for the Spektrum stuff and get the real deal for my 12Z. Woo hoo!
I wonder - do we get any of the features in the new 2.4 12FG radio if we just upgrade modules in the 14MZ/12Z? Will there be a "radio upgrade" where you send in the radio (as was rumored?) ... be nice to turn my basically brand new 12Z into a FG Hey - 12FG ... just noticed that. The "Flying Giants" sepcial. I love my 12Z. Still keeping my DX-7 a while...

I love the fact that Futaba also released modules for their existing radios. I bet this summer the frequency board will not be used so much at contests.

Are you saying that on the 14MZ I wouldn't have to set it to transmit on ppm, that the Futaba module will work when I set the transmitter to transmit in SPCM2048 mode?

This is a great example how market forces drive companies into using technology they didn't want to use on their own, even though they already have them.
Futaba could have done 2.4GHz 10 years ago if they thought it's such a great idea. Instead they spent their resources on PCM G3. The market all of a sudden goes crazy and if a product doesn't say "2.4GHz" on it, it's junk. So Futaba goes back and implements 2.4GHz (which they could have done long time ago). It seems that even the 14MZ wasn't designed with 2.4GHz in mind - hence the extra antenna on the module... What about the "Wire fence will cause a loss of signal" disclaimer in the Futaba 2.4GHz radio manual ? The fields I fly at all have wire fencing.... it makes me wonder. I want to see if JR is going to stick to its 72MHz only guns. P.
