A DA150 weighs 7.96. A 3w170 weighs 9.05.
And some of the planes are at 52lbs with a lighter motor? That's about 8lbs difference in weight. Is there 8lbs difference in set up to set up? |

Sorry but your weights are wrong. The 3w 170 is actually lighter than the DA by about an ounce. The 3w is listed with ignitions as well.

This plane is heavy, but it is also HUGE!!! with 3200 squares, wingloading is no problem, and the Yak in that RCU review went a bit overboard on batteries, IMO. I think that with a 3W 170 on tuned pipes, CF upgrades, and a lightweight equipment setup, you could get it under 50 pounds. It won't be a rocket like some of the smaller 38 pound units, but that 170 will have no problem hauling it around...

Yup, Your right Garrett. I just looked at another site and they said 8.2lbs.
I guess I was looking at the 170XI here: http://www.3w-modellmotoren.com/engl...toren_com.html Last edited by Redneck Shaun; 04-08-2007 at 02:37 AM. Reason: Max is great |
