Default Flight Simulator X

Well... not really R/C related....but just curious if anyone else is playing with FSX?

Just picked it up and my 6 yr old son and I are addicted....

Any good download sites for aircraft?

I am amazed at the number of airfields in this thing....Wow...

Let me know if there are any downloads that I just must have

I have been racking up hours with FSX. Played pretty much all the missions. I love it! Try this site flyawaysimulation.com.

Anyone have photos of there computer cockpits? Found some online that are crazy!!

Hey guys, I have FSX as well, but man is it a graphics intensive game. I can play FS 2004 at full detail, traffic, etc. But I can only play FSX at minimums, and even at that the frame rate is still kinda choppy, I have heard from other people who run ridiculous high end systems that they have problems with it too. I heard that it plays better in Windows Vista with the new Direct X version, (sigh) guess I'll have to do some upgrading

exeter,

There should be a readme included in each of the airplanes that you download that tell you which directories they need to which they need to be extracted. Some of the newer releases are actually .exe files that do everything for you. When in doubt, just create a file in the aircraft folder and exract all the files to it. If the airplane doesn't show up, it's either because it already had a folder built into the hierarchy, or you're missing some components. If it already has a folder created, just move that out from under the folder you created. Any .gau files should be put in the gauges folder and the .fx or whatever they are should go to the effects folder.

It's pretty easy to do. I used to fart with MSFS quite a bit, then sort of slowly stopped. If you have any q's, let me know, I'll see if I can help.

No I cant knife edge anything on FS 10 either.

I am running a mid level graphics card, nvidia 7600GT, this runs it fairly well at medium to high scenery settings (windows xp) I get about 40-50 fps, I am going to upgrade to an 8800GTS video card, however I think this sim is also very processor/system hungry, so there is no point simply whacking a high end graphics card in there and hoping for the best.

I have an intel core2 e6600 overcloked to 3.1ghz , with a matched pair of RAM (2gb) and a top notch motherboard, I think if you want this sim to run hard you will need a total system overhaul.

If your system isnt even close to what I am running dont bother buying this sim!!

Great info thanks!

Yea... I'm running an Athlon 64 3700+ overclocked and running at 2.7ghz (water cooled) with a nVidia 6800 vid card and it is a killer!

Looking at getting an A64 X2 5000 and an 8800 to beef it up a bit...

Why is it a simply piece of software gets so expensive!!??

I suck at those red bull missions. I can seem to fly through the pylons at any kind of speed.

I have a 7900GS card and it does pretty well with the settings tweaked. I have heard no card out there will run the game with everything maxed out or at a playable frame rate. Maybe something in the future.
