Just ordered the new Quique 86" Yak54 today.
Going with the DA50 for power and MTW canister. Canister is backordered 2 weeks, but the plane and the rest of the components should all be here by the end of next week. Does anybody want to see a build thread on this one???

I put together the 85" version for a friend a couple months ago and it flies superb. Very light and precise. I'm sure you'll love the 86".

Alright, Alright...
Calm down guys, its only on order. I expect to get the plane and engine on Monday. I've already placed a big order with TroyBuiltModels for almost all of the rest. This will also be my first gasser so I am having to purchase absolutely everything brand new. Heck I even had to swing for a Jersey Modeller fuel can/pump. I ordered 5 Hitec HS5985MG dig servos for all control surfaces. We'll see how that goes for the rudder, if its not enough I will have to spring for JR 8611. I am also going with the MTW 75 canister which is on backorder, but the folks at QQaircraft told me it should only be 2 weeks. I also placed an order with NoBS Batteries for a pair of 6v 1950Mah Nimh batteries for the RX and one 4.8v 1950Mah Nimh for the ignition. There will be no need for regulators with this setup. The only things I have not ordered are the switches. I would like to use the new Wolverine dual switch from Fromeco. It is supposed to allow you to use 2 batts going into one RX and will do "battery sharing" for you. It comes with dual switches and charge ports all in one neat package. I like that! Even if it is slightly larger than a normal switch. Does anybody have any info on this switch??? For ignition I figured I would also use a regular Badger switch from Fromeco, just to keep up with appearances. Thoughts? Opinions? Info? All is appreciated!!!

Hey guys!
Well, the plane came in today and I must say I am very impressed! It was packaged very well to prevent damage during shipment. The included hardware is awesome. Each set of hardware is individually packaged, that is, all the wing mounting hardware is in its own bag and labelled. As is the aileron linkage hardware, rudder linkage, elevator linkage, fuel tank, tail wheel assembly, canopy mounting hardware, etc. This makes it very easy to identify what hardware is used for each part of the plane. So far I have only taken the parts out of their protective plastic bubble wrap to inspect for damage and there was none. I will take some pics tomorrow nite and post them so you can see what comes in the box. The DA50 engine and MTW canister are on backorder for a little while and the rest of the goodies should be in later this week. In the meantime, I am going to go over the entire plane with an iron on low heat setting to make sure that all edges are sealed tight. I can't stress enough how important this is. Even if the covering has no wrinkles, which it does not, go over it anyway, you'll be glad you did. If you dont have a covering iron, borrow one. If you can't borrow one, buy one, you will always need it in the future. I will post a few pics showing how this is done tomorrow also. Over in China they pay a girl a few cents an hour to cover your plane and while she does do a very good job, believe me she doesn't spend a whole lot of time getting it perfect. So, its the least you can do to get your plane ready while you wait for the rest of your stuff to come in. Until next time...
