Default TOLEDO: Show Planes!

Along with all the vedors at the Weak Signals show, there is another very important part: the static display and competition! This year is no different as there are dozens of impressive models on display from all areas of this great hobby! I snapped a few shots here of a couple of Giant Scale birds that I felt needed a little extra attention. First is a Carden Extra built and covered in a full scale scheme seen in the Red Bull Air Races. Every item and graphic on this airplane was HAND cut and assembled on the airplane. Where as the airframe construction only took the builder 2 weeks, he spent nearly 6 weeks covering the airframe to its current state. It is absolutely amazing. The second pic is an airplane built by our very own Tony Russo. It is the new Dalton Extra 300 that he built and covered for a customer. Along with an amazing build and cover-job, Tony masked up and sprayed some of the most bad-ass flames you have ever seen. Congratualtions goes out to all the builders, absolutely amazing work!!!

Besides the vinyl watch, there's nothing really to that scheme. The Dalton looks way better!

that's just it...."just" that watch IS the scheme!! and btw, that watch is NOT vinyl! Every single piece of that watch is HAND CUT monokote!! It's truely unbelievable... I had my nose inches from the surface inspecting it myself because I had a hard time believing it. But believe it....it's ALL monokote!!

....and don't forget the wooden cowl...also covered in monokote!!

I just wish that manufacturers could come up with some really great schemes like the Hamilton. Even if the watch was vinyl it would look hot! I am just so tired of fantasy schemes that make our planes look like toys. That scheme is hot!

Guys you have to see that Hamilton plane in person.
That plane has a wood cowl, and there is not a bubble or the tiny-est wrinkle anywhere. The detail of those watch faces will make a person weak.

And Tony's plane has some SICK features as well, he has a 3D logo onside the Canopy that is Sick....

Very sweet planes.
