All I see out of stock are the JR/Futaba combos with the 6 ch RX and the universal combos. Just the regular JR/Futaba combos with a 8 or 10 ch RX appear to be in stock.

sometimes when you click to order you get a message that says they are out of stock and sometimes you don't

I was surprized when I checked them today before charging. In 5 flights it used about what it did in 8-9 flights PCM72.

Did Jim say there might be a software upgrade so we can get max channels?

Darcy, not sure if enjoy is the word, it's flipping awesome.

Hmmm...I was worried about that. I'll have to keep an eye on the setup I'm putting it in, which is a 50cc plane with two 1100mah 6v nimh's for receiver power.

Same with me John. It insisted on kicking me over to PayPal (I have an account). Even when I tried to use a CC not associated with PP it kicked me over. No biggie but annoying. Bright side = 1-JR Mod + 2-8ch Rxs

Hey guys just an update. Went to the field last night and flew my F16 again. It has a total of 7 flights on it yesterday and not one problem! I flew it out as far as i fly all of my jets and never had one hint of a problem. I am getting more and more comfortable with this system every flight. So far i don't have any complaints. Probably gonna order a couple more receivers for my other airplanes!

I think this question was asked earlier in the Thread, will the 8 or10 channel reciever fit on a Smartfly power expander?
I realize that it's Plug & Play...and the setup seems pretty straight foward.....my question has to do with the Physical Dimentions.

I have a front load reciever now, and the wires to the smartfly seem like they'd be too short for a top load reciever. Could not find actual Dimentions Anywhere....

Anyone else have this issue?

Ok guys I have a question: I just ordered my XPS system last night. I am going to run two RX packs. I have two different choices for pack capacities. I have 2 1650 mah nimh packs and 2 2700mah packs, both 6v. The plane I have is a pacific planes 30% yak 54 (87 inch span). Which packs would you feel safer to use. I would like to use one 2700 and one 1650 to save weight but I have heard the Dave Thacker at Radical rc doesn't recommend that. Any insight you can shed would be helpfull. And, P.S. I can't wait to get my XPS system!!!

The 1650 packs will be better, and here's why. The 2700 cells are perhaps the worst possible cell for our use due to their extremely high internal impedance. What this means is that under a load they will experience a significant voltage drop.

For instance, I have some 1950 NiMH packs and the 2700's as well. Under a 1 amp load the 2700's will drop nearly 1 full volt while the 1950's only drop about .22 volts. So you can get more flights out of the smaller pack since you can fly it to a lower voltage than the other pack.

Make sense??

If using NiMHs ALWAYS try to get the lowest internal impedance you can. I shoot for 4 to 5 milliohms. The 2700 cells are up around 25 milliohms for comparison.

No BS batteries site lists the specs.

Bodywerks,
I am not worried at all but I will keep checking my volatages after about flight 4 and note changes. I really wrung is out and pounded on it. Not what I always do, well mostly!~).
Almost 600 flights on these old LG Chem TBM cells might be time to hit the buy button at Fromeco for some new puppy fresh 2600s. For that matter my plane could get replaced too and engine sent over to DA for a check up. But what the heck, if it ain't broke, break it!
Do keep an eye on energy usage if you are hittin it hard. This system is really nice and from what I can tell translates your movements to the plane much faster than PCM, perhaps resulting in more energy usage mostly IMO from old muscle memory.

Joe

Guys, I've got my Xtremelink ordered. Went with the 10 channel rx for my 9c so I have a few more open ports for the batteries / etc. I can also use it later if I upgrade to a 12z or 14mz w/ Jim's product.
