OK folks, heres the scoop. I have a brand new DA50, and a DA100, both never started. I cannot afford to support 2 airframes, and I have made up my mind to sell one and use the cash to wrap an airframe around the keeper. I know keeping the 100 means a more expensive airframe, no worries. beides that which one would you keep, and why?

easy choice.
Do you have a vechile that can easily carry a 35% plane? If not stick with the DA-50. If you do then I'd stick with the 100

It would really depend on what size plane you prefer and also transportation. There are a ton of great flying 50 class aircraft available now to choose from that "feel" like the larger scale planes.
If you don't mind spending more on radio equiptment...I personally would go with the 35%, 100 twin powered option. The handeling is better overall.

Both!! I would let both go and get in the 33% market. One is to much the other is not enough. So the 33% market is mostly ZDZ-80 or 3W-80 or 85
so DA is mostly out of the market. However 33% is just the right size and the market keeps producing better and more aircraft this size.I think the 33% market will continue to grow. Think about air frame replacement cost too.I can afford to replace a 33% but a 35% or a 40% just kills me.1000.00 for a kit 1600.00 for a arf plus shipping on the arf another 150.00.For just the price of the airframe I can have two airframes. The new 3w-80 single costs 675.00 not much more than a real good glow engine. Just my .02 cents |

Tough call here. Like previously said, lots of 50cc airplanes out there that will be WAY cheaper to outfit than a 35%-er, and they fly extremely well.
Just give them both to me and your dilemma will be over! Thats the right thing to do, as it will save you alot of money. I'm just thinking of you........ |

Dude alot of people have put DA 100's in the H9 Cap 232, H9 Extra and H9 Edge.
33% planes can handle a DA100. I have the H9 Extra with a 95CC single, and would trade in a heartbeat or the 100. Keep the 100. if you can transport a bigger plane!

If you are at a higher elevation then I can see it.Other than that alot of the newer 80cc engines are just about as if not as powerful as a 100cc.And they are lighter than 100cc engines. So all your really doing is adding weight.Trying to overcome weight with engine power can be done, but a lighter plane with than same power of a 100 will fly better than a 100cc with more power. This is just my opinion. |

Agreed, but if you HAVE the motor and are looking for a plane....
they fly pretty nice with a 100. S

I had pretty much narrowed it down to a WH extra for the 50 and a PA extra for the 100. WH also has a deal for a 90something span extra 260 with practically everything except receiver, TX, and engine. All for $1400. WH also has military discount for all aircraft too. Some folks had flown that 260 with the 100, and said all was fine as long as they were careful with the throttle. Too bad cause I like to do full throttle aneurisms. the 260 is more of a precision a/c anyways. precision for me is not slamming the tail on the pullup doing a wall on the deck. Going too low really hurts sometimes.

The WH 260 is a nice plane. My buddy has one.
With a ZDZ 80.. its sick, with a DA it would be insane. But very do-able.
