Default Hi-tec 5955TG servo query

Hi, i am running Hitec 5955TG servos, i have the radio set with no subtrim, when i throw the rate switch the centre position of the servo changes. No matter what i do i can't stop it. It doesn't do it on the other digital servos i have. Do i need to get the servo programmer or have i got a dodgy servo?

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

First let me ask a question. If you swap out the servo does the new servo do the same thing? Reason being, I had the same problem and it was my transmitter that needed to be calibrated.

The servo is getting the signal from the radio , its just with these servos you can
see the problen . Even if you re prg the TG dead band you will still have a bad signal
from the radio

Its time for a new radio .

Hi, i currently have only one 5955TG, my other digital is a Futaba 9350, that is fine in the rudder channel (where there hi-tec is installed) and the hi-tec does it in any channel.

Thanks

From you last post.........if you have replaced the servo with any other servo and your not having centering problems........that leads me to believe that their may be a problem with the servo. I would suggest contacting Hitec on the matter.....they will take care of you.

This is the first 5955 I have heard having problems, I have had 10+5945mg's that did not center worth a darn. I sure hope this is not the same pattern....

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. If this is the first time you've heard of it out of all the 5955's that have been sold already....how can you say it's the start of a pattern? Every mfg.....and I do mean every mfg has a product that will fail or not operate correctly at some point. Unless you hear of more....I woudn't sweat it.

My 5955 does not impress me as far as centering goes... so there are two for whoever is keeping count.

I swap in an 8411 and that baby centers every time.

I fly it anyway, it doesn't seem to affect flight performance, but it is kind of disappointing seeing as it's their "flagship" servo.

I haven't bought any more of them though.

I have to ask did you match trims, most radios allow you to set the trim on high and low rates seperatly.

Sry....I can't resist that comment. Centers everytime.......but your forgetting about how much gear slop there is at center....and that's directed at every brand servo out there....not just the one mentioned above

Also...for andywynn.....when you say not centering.....I was curious if you mean that it's hunting for center? Oscillating back and forth a bit? If that's the case...the dead band may be a little too tight. I've had to widen the dead band once upon a time....problem resolved.

Typically a trim change when you flip the rate switch is related to the pot in the gimbal, in which case the transmitter would need to be recalibrated. This has nothing to do with the servo.

I recently setup a friends airplane and he had the same problem. With the help of some friends we determined that it was due to worn out pots in the radio. We swapped radios and its good to go.

Or the trim is set differently between high and low rate, What transmitter are you using?
