Introduction

Highslide JS

Recently I've seen a uber cool prop bag being advertised on the Giants. Doing some research into this I decided I had to have one. Even though I normally take my trailer to the flying field which is basically a mobile mini shop with every tool you can think of inside, I usually end up only needing 3 or 4 seperate tools if I'm having a good day.
Most occasions my radio box serves as my go between from the trailer to the flight line. Of course on the off chance I need something other then the tools required for assembling the plane, it's another trip to the trailer. I know it may not sound like a big problem but I'll bet everyone has had one of those frustrating days when stuff is going wrong and forgetting something in the trailer just adds to it.

Out of the Box:

Highslide JS Highslide JS

Right out of the box the first thing that struck me was the quality of the construction and stitching. As have most people, I've owned my fair amount of wing bags and prop bags in the past. While most have been more then adequate, the construction of this bag takes things a step further.
There are no hanging threads, everything is 100% straight and lines up perfectly, plus the overall coolness factor scores a 10 on the cool scale.
Everything that is meant to open has a pull tab which makes things very easy to deal. I'm not sure what the type of velcro is that is used but it's a good thing these tabs are there because that is some seriously strong stuff. You don't have to worry about it coming undone and spilling small parts all over the place.
The outside material is nice and heavy and should hold up to years of abuse. Inside of the prop slots is lined with a nice soft fleece to avoid scratches.

Prop Bag Kit for 30"-34" Props

Building a prop bag?

Sure, why the heck not? In the first picture you can see what I normally would need at the flight line in case my assembly tools were not cutting it. This ratty old box holds an assortment of tools, nuts and bolts that I rarely used more then 10% of. With the new prop bag kit I can finally stop luggin this thing around.

As you can see from the picture taken from Coverme Wingbags site, the bag has extensive amounts of storage and flexibility for almost everything you'll need for a day at the field.

Highslide JS Highslide JS

I guess you could call this the "build" section of the review. After taking a few minutes to figure out what I use most at the flight line I removed it all from the old box and placed it on the prop bag. I was a bit concerned at first about being able to fit it all in.
Much to my surprise, everything fit with no problems and I've still got room to spare. The solid pouch only has a roll of tape in it and I also just realized that there is another pouch behind that one.
Every bit of space has been utilized with great thought.

Highslide JS Highslide JS Highslide JS

Another really cool feature is the velcro on the front of the bag. Adi at Cover Me wingbags told me that they can make custom patches with velcro on the back so you can attach them to the front of your bag. I'm thinking I see a nice FlyingGiants patch on the front of my bag in the future.

I've also included some pictures that show the how the bag actually folds up and as you can see it is very easy to do.Once all folded up, you don't have to worry about anything falling out.

A day at the field

Finally getting a chance to put the bag to the test showed just what a unique product this is. Once the airplane was unloaded I didn't make a single trip back to the trailer.
One of my favorite features of the Prop Bag is the removeable tool pad. No longer do I have an assortment of tools laying in the grass. This little tool pad keeps every thing organized and holds all the tools I need to assemble and disassemble the airplane.
I barely had it out of the trailer when guys were grabbing it from me and asking about it. Believe me when I say that this bag got a workout today, I heard a lot of velcro being torn open and closed.

Highslide JS Highslide JS
Now for the actual prop part of the prop bag. Since I have the 30"-34" bag this one will hold just about any prop that is going to be used for RC applications. A nice feature here is the fact that you do no have to open the entire bag to remove a prop. Just open the end flap and get the prop you need. No muss, no fuss.
Again, the inside of the prop slots is lined with a nice, soft fleece that will prevent any damage to your expensive props.

One more thing I should mention when it comes to the prop side of the bag. For you Helicopter flyers out there, this bag is perfect for carrying those expesnsive carbon fiber main blades. I had several heli flyers asking me about the bag and where they could get one for themselves.

Once everything is folded up, the bag takes up very little room. As some of my flying field buddies can attest to, I'm a bit on the compulsive side when it comes to keeping my tools and trailer neat. This bag certainly helps someone like myself with a slight case of O.C.D. stay sane.

Conclusion

I can answer that easily with a resounding "YES". This is by far one of the coolest products I've had the pleasure of owning in quite awhile. Staying ahead of the game and being innovative in this hobby is a tough thing to do.
Coverme wingbags has definitely come up with a product that does just that. For me, it is the little things in the hobbby that keeps it interesting and fun. I've found myself showing people my new prop bag more then my new airplanes or radios.

The overall quality of this bag just can not be beat along with its simple, common sense approach to helping you enjoy a day at the field.

      Try one, you'll like it!

Hi Toro

Yes, sure i can, just tell me what is missing in this one. on the 34" you can put two blades and Tools as much as you want, i gave this bag to one of our leading Helli pilot here and he told me to add some things, what you have seen on this Bag its after i add the staff.
If you have some more innovative things you think i should add, NO PROBLEM, just tell me what they are and i will add and do them.
I can do a prototype and show it to you and Jim.

You need to remember KISS, Keep It Simple & Smart.

Thanks,

TAZ

the bag is very useful specially if you are carrying tools with you. My cousin had that bag and he puts all his mechanical tools in there.. He is an airline mechanic. He had them customized though.
