where are your batteries located? I know most people are having to move them all the way to the front. Mine was real tailheavy until moved. Now it is great at 6.5

Take fuel out of the tank, pull the wings off and canopy off and slide in your wingtube.
You should be able to get the plane to ballance somewhere near the wingtube. Mine ballances right on the wingtube and flies perfect. I have had it ballance a little aft of the wing tube as well and it flew great. If you are truly at 6.5 and when you flip upside down and it wants to climb something else is wrong. Trim your plane evenly when it comes to the elevator. You should push the exact same amount when you are inverted as the amount you have to pull when you are upright. This makes the plane neutrally trimmed and your rolls more axial. Trim it like that and then see if you are still climbing in the inverted. Then check the incidence or the angle of the stabs on the tail and make sure that they are inline with the airplane. This could also be causing the problem. I also noticed that alot of people install their engines too high and fail to move the firewall down an inch to compensate for the lack of hight in the motor box. This might also be causing the problem but probably not. If you have an engine that weighs as much as a DA 50, you should have both batteries and maybe even the regulators tied up on the sides of the engine box as far foreward as you can get them. |

I just checked my CG, it ballances directly on the wingtube and is about 6.8'' back from the leading edge with the wings, canopy and all bolts installed ready to fly.
It fly's great like this though I would probably not go any more tail heavy than it already is. I have both regulators, a 4800 li-ion and a 2400 li-ion, ignition, amongst other things all on the engine box. I replaced the hatch covering the opening to the tail wheel with white covering and installed a carbon fiber stab tube. I cut out the foam board in the hatch. Dremel cut all the excess bolt length of my control horns in the tail and did everything I could to make it nose heavy though. The prop is even 1.5 inches away from the leading edge of the cowl so I imagine if you are using a DA 50 you would need to make an effort to move weight out of the tial. I just took some pictures as well because I dont have any of the plane with the graphics on it like I do now. too bad they dont look as good as real life. |
