Any particulars on this yet. Pilot meeting times, parking-overnight camping, registration fee etc?

Hi every one. Let me start out by saying we will NOT be scoring the sound score, Pilot and dash panel. THIS CONTEST WILL BE ABOUT YOUR PILOTING SKILLS, NOT HOW DEEP YOUR POCKETS ARE!!!! We will also not be scoring the Airspace control score because I do not feel that every one is on the same page when it comes to scoring this.
I would like to give a big thanks to Andy Portman for offing to help my dad because I will not be able to make this event due to the Joe Nall.
The pilots meeting will be at 9:30, and the entry fee will be $35.00 for Basic and $40.00 for sportsman and up.

Come on man. I wasnt the CD. The plane came with a dash and the pilot was like $30. I really hope this wasnt a bash towards my skills or anyone else from the last contest.

Cant wait to make Riverside. I am looking foward to seeing everyone agian and throughout the year. I had a great time at the Vegas contest.

I wish CD's were not allowed to pick and chose the rules they wish to enforce.

We should all be held to the same standard, every contest, if its in the rule book it should be enforced!

As for deep pockets.....No where in the RB does it state you need to spend 100's of dollars for sound or pilot/dash. Throttle management and a simple styrofoam pilot figure is all you needed.

But I'll take the shots for enforcing the RB.......No hard feelings

Let me start out by saying that this was not a shot at the Sam or any one from the Vegas crew. You can ask anyone that has asked me my opinion on the sound/pilot scores that this has been the way I felt all along.

No offense taken. I've known how some of the contestants felt long before the contest. That is one of the reasons I made sure to announce it a long long long time ago.

Back on track........the Riverside contest is looking chock full! Wish I could make it.

Jeffery and I have had a few discussions about the pilot and panel rule, and quite frankly I agree with him on it. I understand it is in the rule book, but that doesn't make it a good rule. If I remember correctly, it was voted out by the IMAC board as part of the rule changes and the AMA put it back in. (Judge, feel free to chime in if I have this info wrong).

My personal feelings are that you can't see the pilot and panel in the air, and we are only judged on what the plane is doing in the air, so why should anyone care if our planes have a pilot and instrument panel?

I for one am looking forward to this contest, it will be a lot of fun.

No different than the 10% rule.......in the air I can't tell your plane is 10%. I couldn't tell you in the air if your plane is a 260 or 300 or 330 unless its written big on the plane. But that rule is there.

I'm with everyone else on the rules "should" be about piloting skills

but just because I don't agree with the rule doesn't mean I ignore the rule.

Those that chose not to put a pilot in or have throttle control for sound or spacing for ACS chose to do so knowing their scores would be hurt.

What it really comes down to is your flying.......if any of the top pilots in Unlimited would have gotten a 8or 9 instead of the few 6's they got then this conversation wouldn't be happening.

This conversation has been happening for as long as I have been involved in Scale Aerobatics, and probably longer. Most CD's in the SW don't enforce the pilot/panel rule, and that is just the way it is. No one is saying you were wrong for enforcing it, just that it isn't a rule of substance. We all agree that the focus is on how well you fly the figures, and not what plane you have or how it is equipped. I like the appearance of planes with a pilot in the canopy and have one in every plane I have owned, I just don't agree that it should effect the outcome of a contest.

Nuff said. It's all behind us now and we can look back. But..it's not gonna change anything re: Vegas. Take a positive look forward to the Riverside IMAC. These guys put on a great event each and every time. We always enjoy going there as we are treated well and the event is organized and well run. Hard working guys and I for one, express my thanks for all the hard work they do in putting on a great show. "Anger is the seed that grows a bitter fruit" Hey, we are all a little fruity??

No doubt......very bad news that Jeff will be at Nall instead of flying the contest......

Riverside is always one of the "Goto" contests of the year!

Jeff...Just a quick question.... Did you apply for a deviation from AMA for the variance that you want to have at this contest??

Thare are certain guidelines that the IMAC BOD has put out for a contest to be "called" an IMAC contest. These are available on the IMAC site....

Wayne,

Not to step on Jeffery's toes, but typically we put it right on the sanction form that the pilot/panel and sound score will not be used.
