Default B&B fuel tank question...

SleepyC turned me onto the B & B tank which looks awesome and they make a rectangular tank to fit my application to boot! What the directions don't show is a seal or O ring where the fittings run through the tank and cap. Or are there any? I was just a little leary of no seals or O rings where the fittings go through the actual tank. Great looking tank though. Thanks for the heads up on it.

Screw them in and use thick CA around the edges. Used them for years no leaks.

I use ZAP A DAP A GOO for a seal. The tanks are tight sealing before a sealant is used. You will not have a problem. I mostly use ZAP for security of the tank lid not coming off.

fwiw...you can take something like blenderm and wrap the cap to the bottle so it won't start to unscrew. if you have a sheeted foam inside it will get ruined if the tank ever leaks.

I have been using these tank for.....Heck, it has been that long.
If you install the fitting properly and tighten the cap, they are basicly full proof.

When making the 1/4" holes for the fittings, I use a sharpen brass tubing and slow speed with the drill to prevent any melting. The fitting will be a snug fit in the tank. I install the fittings from the inside and put the nuts on the outside. I use a goos pair of pliers to grip the fittings just enough as to not slip when using a wrench to tighten the nuts down. There is no "O" ring needed. And don't be afraid to tighten them .
As for the Cap, there is a flange on the inside of the cap to seal it. Here I can't stress that you want to not be afraid to tighten this cap down. I have even used a pair of channel locks to add just that little bit that I can't do by hand.

When this is all done, I pressure check the tank by running a fuel tubing between 2 of the fittings and use the third to use a piece of tubing to blow air into the tank. Hold under a sink of calm water to look for leaks. If any apear, just tighten the fitting a hair more.

I have never used anything to add addition sealing and have never had any issues. Also, if silicon is used and there is a leak, the gas will go right past the silicon.

Just a few setups of mine in pics.
