Default Seiko Servo problem solved....

A buddy had a Seiko 050 on the rudder of his %40 Extra. The servo was new out of the box and would work intermittently. Checked over all of the wiring several times but not problems found.

We did notice that if you wiggled the wires going in to the servo the problem would reoccur. I opened up the servo expecting to find a bad wire or something like that. What i did find was bothering to me. Turns out about half the solder joints on the IC chip were, how do you say, SOLDER-LESS!!!!!

Glad we found it on the ground...

Especially since they are UAV servos aren't they? Or do they manufacture them separately for hobby use?

Edge,

I doubt they are actual UAV servos but they are marketed as industrial servos. I think if they were specifically aimed at being for UAV's they would not be as well priced as they are. When you make something thats legal for the aviation industry you need to add three zeros to the price.
