Hey guys, I have been flying my sd yak for a while and I constantly have inerference on take off and when ever I do a low pass. I also get it on high g turns. It also does it when I do point rolls at high speed and engage the rudder. The plane will just jolt a little and then stop. Take a look at my set up and tell me if you have found what is wrong. I am running 1950 faups fully charged. A 7c radio. BTW there is no interference on the ground. 5645 servos on the ailerons. 5985 servos on the elvators. A 5745 servo on the rudder. All the equipment was bought brand new with the plane. I am also using a r168df receiver. I have an airwild servo reverser for the elevators.

something loose under acceleration ? Could be coming loose and arcking while under direction change ?. Its causing RF when its arcing. I would go through and start checking ALL connections especially rudder as your stating it really happens when you jam the rudder. If it was true RF from the ground you would have it all the time, not when your doing maneuvers.
This also may be do to overloading do to servo draw at maneuver speed. It could be causing your Rx to fall into a moment of failsafe due to voltage draw. Is this problem new ? IE it was fine one day and now its not ? That would lead me to believe that it happened over time through ACC/DEC cycles, and wear. Secure all wires !!! .... you cant have any flopping looks like your rudder cables could be coming in contact with your leads if you roll inverted. Ferrite rings ? Use em' if your not on throttle/choke, and kill switch leads... any leads that come to the engine. |

I think you will need to switch to a pcm receiver. Something like a 148 or 149 dp. Its just so hard with the FM receiver to get the big gassers to be glitch free. Not saying it cant be done, its just hard.

you might also try getting the metal pushrods off the throttle and choke setup.i have nothing but fm in all three of my gassers and like garrett says it is harder to clean up the signal but when it is done you have a rock solid plane

Absolutely get rid of those metal linkages to the carby. That alone could be 100% of your problems although the symptoms you describe make it look like a bit more difficult than those linkages alone.
Tie those extensions down to the floor for the elevator servos as it looks like they can flop around and maybe even contact your pull pull rudder cables. I am also looking to see if you can fit your RX in front of the battery pack so as to get it further away from the rudder servo, You seem to have plenty of slack servo cable so getting your RX into some clean space will also help. PPM is extra sensitive so having the RX close to any other electronic gizmo should avoided at all costs if possible. PCM will likely stop it all because it is masking the problem, but it wont fix it. Try to get rid of the problems with the PPM Rx and then your PCM setup will be rock solid. Last edited by Kiwi; 05-05-2007 at 03:34 PM. Reason: added more thoughts |

If my elevator leads come in contact with my rudder cables can that emit rf???Thanks. I have noticed it is just the rudders and elevators.

You absolutely dont want your elevator servo leads even close to the rudder cables. Pull Pull rudder cables are notorious for causing stray RF.
Tie those servo leads down tight with a little strip of duct tape or something that wont let them flop around. |

pull pull are like giant antenae... I found the super big nyrod, like the 1/4" stuff works awesome for throttle pushrods. just use the inside piece, and not the outer sheath. works fine for runs up to 10"

Extra,
These are just ideas. Often it can be something as simple as an extension lead on your servos not having a good clean contact with the servo plug. The key thing you say in your explanation is it only happens when your flying. That makes me look for something that can be moving around. Those servo extensions appear to be floaters and thats a serious no no. Try the things that have been suggested. If that does not work then lets take another look. I wont promise these will fix it but it will eliminate them as points of trouble. The whole game of eliminating interference is slow process of elimination. Kiwi |

Yes I can, I flew again today and I eliminated the floating elevator lead and they dont get interference any more. I noticed the aileron glitch and rudder still on high g turns and that was all.

I think you have a problem with your crystal or crystal mount in your receiver. If possible how about a different reciever along with the other fixes previously disscussed.I hope that helps.
