I have been seriously out of the loop on the whole fishing thing. I havent been fishing since I was a teenager. So this question is to those who fish a lot or who have fished in the lake at Joe Nall. I am going to dust off my old fishing rod and get it ready to take up there and then head up to Wally World to find that perfect lure. Now what should I get. I remember plastic worms used to work good for bass and so did the buzz baits and rattle traps. I'm only going to bring two different lures since I'm just going to fish to pass the time in the evening before dark and see if I can catch anything. If one doesnt work then I'll just tie on another one. What lures should I get? I know its catch and release plus I dont want to clean any fish so I wont be keeping anything. So what do I need to catch the "BIG ONE"?

Rubber worms, carolina-rigged works great. Slug-gos and other soft plastic jerk baits. Small spinner baits, light colors. In the evenings, poppers, pop-r's, jitterbugs, and zara-spooks are awsome for some good top water action.

Yes, you can fish. As stated: it is catch and release. I too have seen Jason Shullman catch a fish with his plane, before the fish got to the size they are now (lol). There is a video of the whole thing. I think it is on Jason Shullmans website.
See yall in a few days. Laura |

I forgot about the poppers. I used to love to use those in the evenings before the sun went down. Its always fun to catch them like that when they are flying out of the water after the bait. I think I am going to get a couple of those and maybe a buzz bait.

The last Youth Masters my dad and I fished for about 2 hours and caught 10 fish around 2-5lbs range.
If you use a plastic worm use June Bug or Tequila Sunrise colors. They seem to work the best for bass.

Flyline a nightcrawler to really clean up. I bought a cheapy pole at WM and put some fresh 4lb line on it with a #8 hook and was catching fish or getting bit almost every catch with 1/2 a nightcrawler in the late evening in the southwest corner across from the hanger. I almost missed the BBQ because it never slowed down! I finally packed up after about 20 fish in an hour. The biggest was a 4-5lb cat that was very challenging to get to shore; especially without a net, but there were also a bunch of 1-2lb bass and hand size blue gills. I wish I was coming this year as that was definately one of the highlights of the trip.
Have fun! Mike Mayberry Hitec RCD USA. |

You guys are making me think about packing my fly rod. Man it's tempting. But, I have been packing the van today and probably won't have the room.

Go to Dicks sporting goods or to Wally World and pick up some chatter baits. They will work like a charm because you can fish them so many different ways .www.chatterbait.com. These are some of the hottest baits on the market. Any color with white becase this time of year is around the post spawn so the fish will be ready to eat.
