Default Rantoul race

It has been pretty quiet here lately, I am sure the racers are busy getting their new creations ready for the first race of the year. If you are in the area of Rantoul, IL June 7-10th, the USRA will be holding the first race of the 2007 season and would like to have you come by and see what we are all about.

Hope to see you there!

We're working hard to get some stuff done here Martin.

I have just the weekend left to get things finished, am trying to get Pete's Kelly flyable for GT, and get the Cassutt up and running for Jake Hanbury to fly in GT.
Kenny Mac is slaving away on a new GR7 for F1, not sure if he'll get it done but the chances are good.
Tom Easterday has a new F1 GR7 getting very close to completion, in somewhat Treatish colors, though it's not certain if it'll go to the race.

Hopefully everything will work out and we'll have a good field of entries in Rantoul.

Craig.

Wish I was closer so I could help out eventhough I have my hands full working on a new timing and scoring system.

I like the colors

Pictures? Who had time to take PICTURES? I barely took the camera out of the bag!

I had a great time but man, these things wipe me out! With Blue Moon flying in three out of four classes with only one or two heats in each class we were hustling all weekend. It's prep, race, repair, prep race, clean up, eat big dinner, pass out, roll your arse out of bed at 6:30 and do it all over again.

Here are the few pictures I took that weren't of the new Sundowner and the old firetrucks in the hanger (for my boys)

Don Corum was flying XPS in his new Bearcat. The 2.4GHz system performed flawlessly but his engine wouldn't cooperate!

Also pictured are the Blue Moon entries. Probably the oldest Dominator and GT currently racing! Also Sparky's new unlimited Vendetta with graphics by Wally World. He maidened it Thursday and decided to go ahead and race it in white primer. I had to pick up and apply some blue painters tape so he could actually see it!

Go to the USRA website at www.usrainfo.org and follow the links to the current manufacturers.

Robert...thanks for replying to this one...sorry I missed it.

Porcupinepeace...Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner, I check in here just about every day, and I must have missed your post.

There are a few links on the USRA web site, www.usrainfo.org , and some information about getting started on the forum at that website too.. www.usrainfo.org/forums/ikonboard.cgi ...but I admit that it's not a user-friendly way to get all of the info that you need. Drop me an email if you are still interested, and we can discuss what you have in mind and I'll be happy to put you in touch with the right people. Currrently, the kits aren't produced by an established manufacturer, they are more homegrown and mom and pop shop stuff. The price range is varied, the availability is usually ok, and the quality is pretty good.

Talk to you soon
