Default Aerowork's Extra 260 (35%)

Good afternoon,

I'm looking for an objective opinion about this airplane, how good it is or how bad it is??? Does anybody have one? Can anybody tell me about it? Any bad habits, any faults???

Thanks for the info.

Regards,

Hector

This plane is not for sale yet. I think it will be sometime this spring. Sure looks like a nice plane though.

It is "on the water" as we speak, but it seems that it has been on the water for 6 weeks, at least. I preordered one on 11/27/05 under the impression that they were on the water then, since they were confident in a late december delivery, but they weren't on the water, obviously, or they'd be here now. I then got a call from them around mid-december and was told they were "on their way", so I assume that meant, on the water - that was nearly 2 months ago!!! My guess is that these things didn't actually make it on the water until recently, maybe mid January, which is a bit upsetting since I put off other projects based on their delivery estimation. Still, they are definitely on the water now and should be here before the end of february, but I'm done hoping...when they get here, they get here.
Anyway, I saw it in person and the build quality is not the old Aeroworks that people had seemed to become disappointed in. The quality and completness is second to none! I also saw it fly. Rocco said it was around 26 pounds with in-cowls, and it definitely looked like a 26 pounder in the air (and flew AWESOME!!! Then again, Leseberg was at the sticks...), so you can be fairly confident that the weight estimates will be pretty close to what has been advertised, unlike the old Aeroworks ARF's. I can tell you this, though - I will be building mine as light as possible, and if I am not in the 23 pound range (BME 110, in-cowls, CF tubes and CF gear dual 2400 Fromecos, no smoke, etc.), it will be because the kit was heavier than advertised, and may prompt me to sell it...but I really don't think that will be the case - Aeroworks has a lot at stake with their new line Of QB Arfs to misfigure the weight estimates.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure what engine you have, but WildHare RC has a 33% 260 that is a very nice plane. I had one with a BME 100 in it a while back. Fair price too. www.wildharerc.com is the address if you are interested.

I thought that they were just about ready. Have you tried contacting Aeroworks or Troy Built Models to check for availability? TBM is going to be the ones selling them. I was going to get one but ended up finding a 40% JTEC to buy.

I am on the preorder list and Aerowrks has a support forum on RCU where they will post up-to-date logistics info. They are probably sick of my calls and PM's about the whereabouts of them as it is - they definitely aren't here yet. I can't really blame them, though - it seems that every time I preorder anything from anybody, I get the runaround and get strung along and the delivery is alway late by over a month!
As for the Wildhare, no thanks. Their design, size, covering scheme and chinakote doesn't appeal to me in the least.

The Wildhare is a very nice plane. 33% is an in between size, but it flew well. The covering on mine was most certainly not chinakote. It was Ultracote. Very good for precision, but not the best for 3d.

The red and white and black one (and blue black and white) is pretty nice looking!
My bud has the WH 260. Not a bad plane at all.

Flies awsome with the ZDZ 80.

my .03 cents

I used to have the wild hare one, but last sunday the wing broke off during flight, and the rest is history. I got a DA-100 on it and it flew great.

Now I'm skeptical obut the airplne, eventhough I liked a lot. I'm probably going to a Yak know even though I am Extra freaK.

I'll be posting stuff here, but a different thread, so keep an eye out. BTW, even though it's 98% pilot doing that flying, Leseberg's performance with it definitley influenced my desire to purchase it. BTW, that demo was at 5200 feet on a near-90 degree day, and the pullout was still OK, so I think the 26 pound weight claim from Rocco is pretty accurate.
