-look for an open date and email your region director to secure it.
-get club volunteers to run flight line, radio impound, scoring
-get a CD for the contest
-supply some food or have access to some for competitors
-always good idea for free water to judges/volunteers
-secure chairs and tents for judges

guys is it still possible to have one at my field with only one flight line running. the problem is we are not allowed to fly over the road on the right side of the runway. We can come in to land but that is it. So it would be hard to do a 45. It would either have to be one 45 or two straight down runway. I might try to have it at another field close by. I have some friends with a field but it is not ama. I also have two other clubs 45 min away from here that could possibly do it to.

Could a CD post Aprroxamately the costs that their club incurred to put on a contest?

That is the question I get a bit... How much will it cost my club?

Curtis,
I have CD'd 7 contests. If managed correctly the club will make money.

Costs:

Food(can break even if you cook your own concessions) otherwise figure 3-$5 per pilot per day.

Printing scoresheets, results, sequences and other office supplies etc.. $50

Awards 1-3 5 classes and 1 for freestyle ie 16 awards figure an average of 15 each $240

You can have a raffle and make some descent return

Figure $30 entry fee 20 pilots that is $600

summary

if you break even on food plan for your club to profit about $300
cater or buy food plan to Spend $20 to $100
Break even on food and have a decent raffle then profit $400 to $600

Curtis,
You want your club to make money. If it does then you will have full support of the club. It is a verry small percentage of a typical clubs members that are into IMAC.

To add to Dan's comments, many clubs and CD's beat the bushes a bit for donations.

It's usually pretty easy to get the printing and awards donated, which adds to the clubs profit and reduces any up front expenses.

It is almost always a winning situation for the club.
