Hi,
I'm new to helis and the guys at my field confused me.. (I think i'm born that way but it's anonther story) . Some say that i always use the governor and the heli program from my ESC some say that the guvernor is useless for this type of helicopter. For now I have 2 modes on my helicopter. One with the throttle curve gradualy increase and the pitch curve with a slightly negative pitch at the bottom and the other mode with the no curve on the throttle just a liniar one on the 80% throttle with the same pitch curve. Offcourse the first one help me on take of but the rpm on the motor change with the pictch. With the second mode it's ok to take off (the heli program on the ESC start the engine slowly) the guvernor keep the rpm ... but on the landing the engine is not stoping until i hit one switch. Witch is better for one confused beginer like me ? Sorry for the dumb questions.. and the language.. (I'm from Romania ) |

Not a dumb question at all. Electrics are confusing. In gov mode you may get slightly longer run times. I would use it if you are noticing the motor and battery getting very hot, provided that you are not over loading the system. On a 450 size I don't think it's needed. I have mine set up just like the way you have it now except I run a straight 100% in idle2. My motor get a little on the warm side, but that is expected with a 3000 rpm head speed.

I dont run the gov modes on my electrics. I noticed that the gov mode typically was sluggish in reacting, and didnt really help a ton. Just program some good curves in it, and youll be good to go.

I don't use GOV either... I just don't like the "feel: of it....
one thing I do set up though is in idle up (some call it "stunt mode" I do use a throttle curve so the throttle is at 100% at the limits and around 80% at the center....
