Default Do I need Matchboxs?

working on getting the Fibber Classics 44% Giles up and running and it is set up with JR DS 8411s all around, and it has Y harnesses working all the servos. I thought from the getgo that wasn't going to be good and now I am reading they aren't good. Note: I bought this plane used RTF.

soo here is the question.... Do I need Matchboxs to fly my airplane 3D style?

thanks -Dan

Default Re: Do I need Matchboxs?

Dan,

Please get yourself matchboxes or Smart-Fly EQ's...

I would strongly recommend - Do Not just Y the servos. There is too much amperage draw going to the servos. I personally would upgrade the 8411's to 8611/5955's if you can afford it. If not watch those 8411's very closely.

The smart-fly EQ's are a little more versatile than the matchboxes IMHO...

The G202 is a 38 to 40 lb machine. The aerodynamic loads on the control surfaces are significant. I ran Smart-Fly EQ's on mine and they worked great. I also ran dual receivers. I did wear out my 8411's on the ailerons though. I upgraded the whole plane to 8611's...What a difference the 8611's made. Better precision and point rolls were much crisper - IMHO. Oh be sure to use strong titanium push rods also...I also found hovering easier with the 8611s - they reacted quicker..

You will and are going to get differing opinions on this. I personally do NOT use Matchboxes. If you set everythign up correctly and geometrically correct, there is no need for a MB.

What he said... Matchboxes and MSA-10's are great items and they make life easier... but IF the setup is mechanically correct, you don't have to have them
