Default Spektrum Module setup help

I just got my module and rx (9ch system) and installed it in my plane. Using a JR 9303. I got the receiver to bind, and the failsafe is set. However, when I first turn on the transmitter, then the receiver batteries, I get nothing, but if I turn off my transmitter and turn it back on, the system locks up and is fine. Anyone know why it will not lock on when I turn on the rx, and why I have to recycle the transmitter switch to get it to lock on? This has me concerned. I am also using a smart fly power expander, and have bound it with a separate receiver pack and not from the power expander power itself.

How long did you leave it on before you cycled the TX?

I turned the TX on, then the rx, and waited about 20 seconds and nothing, waited a bit more and nothing. Turned the TX off and back on, and and a second or so later it locked up no prob. It did this consistently several times. I have bound it with the bind plug in the battery port. I am running dual badger switches into the turbo regulator, and could not get the bind to work in either switch. Guess I will call tech support tommorow.

Got some advice from Paul Beard. Somehow, the additional remote rx I added is causing the issue. Unhooked it and ran just the original remote rx and all is good now. Not sure what to make of that except the remote rx I added came from a 7ch system, but pretty sure they are all the same.

Cool, my XPS takes a few seconds to find each other after I change models. Other than that, they match up right away.

Well, got it all installed and flown, here is a short summary. I got my Spektrum 2.4 module and rx (AR 9000) installed in my Dalton 260, and made it out for the test flights today. Module and RX is setup with my current JR 9303. I simply removed my other rx (JR 2000, never missed a beat) and the AR 9000 dropped right in. I installed per the book, using one remote antenna that comes with the AR 9000. Got it all bound and failsafe set, etc and thought the setup was super simple. I put the airplane in the middle of the field today, and walked all the way around the plane at about 300' with the bind button depressed, which is a lot farther than what the manual recommends. No glitches, nothing. I even went behind our metal building and held the tx right next to it, and still perfect! I put my nerves aside and decided the range check was great and flew it. I flew 5 flights today, not one single hitch or hiccup, perfect. All in all I am very pleased, and this system works as advertised, and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Nice to hear it, Charles!!!!!!!! Mine just come in today. Wont have time to get things installed, but I will put it in a beater plane first and foremost. Just to make sure that I understand the bind process, etc, etc..............

Keep it going good, man!

Chris~
