Next week I have a TMPRO Extra 260 profile coming in. I plan to post a lot of pictures of the building process and also video of the plane. If it all works out I am going to try to make a video of the building process. So stay tune. Hopefully she will be in on Tuesday.

Here is some information and pictures before I actually start the build thread next week.
This is a TMPRO Extra 260 Profile which is a new profile from TMPRO. You might have heard of TMPRO from their famous Katana profiles that they sell. They currently sell a 46 size and a 70 size. I own both of them and they are great flying airplanes. The 260 has a wingspan of 48" and a wing area of 620 sq in. The total length of the aircraft is 49". It also weighs around 4.25 lbs. The engine that is required to fly is a .40-.50 2-strk, or a .50-.72 4-strk. I plan on going 2-strk for this airplane and going with either a OS 46FX or a Thunder Tiger Pro 46. I have had good luck with these engines. I currently have a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 in my 46 size Katana and flies it very nicely. Extra 260 Profile comes with SFGs for more stable flight and better precision flight. The nice thing about the 260 from what I heard so far about this airplane is it is more of a precision type airplane than 3D. BUT it can still 3D very well from what I have heard. The asking price so far ranges from 109.99-119.99 US dollars. The 109.99 price is just a plain white airplane and the 119.99 airplane is in the patty wagstaff scheme. Please stay tune because next week I should get this airplane in and I will start building her.

If you are buying this and it hasn't shipped, cancel your order and I will sell you one for $75.00 shipped. It is the replacement for the one that I got that was built incorrectly.
I would hate to see you waste $119.00 plus shipping on this airplane. I am sure not going to waste my time trying to build a second one. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Since when did they raise the price from $89.00?

Last week I got in a new airplane from TMPRO. It is the Profile model of a Extra 260 with winglets. TMPRO is the same company that made the awesome Katana 46 and 70 size profiles.
I left for the lake to go camping last Monday and decided to bring the model with me to build. It only took me three days to put it together. Probably would have only took a day to build it if I built the plane at home. As this week goes on I will post photos of the progress from last week. The plane is now ready to fly. I am waiting for great weather to test fly her. So keep coming back for updates! Opening the box I notice everything was packaged VERY well. Nothing was damaged. I think the nicest thing about this ARF is it comes with two things that many profiles dont come with. One are winglets (or sfgs) The other nice thing is Extensions to fit this airplane. This is very nice because you dont have to go out and buy them or make your own.

Here is some information about the airplane:
TMPRO: Top Model Production Global Web: www.topmodelproduction.com USA: www.tmprousa.com Wingspan: 48" Length: 49" Weight: 4-4.25 Lbs Wing Area: 620 Sq. In. Engine: .40-.50 2 Stroke and .70-.82 4 Stroke Radio: 4 Ch + 5 Servos (1 mini) Building Supplies and Tools required to complete the model 1. Thin and Medium CA 2. CA accelerator 3. 5 Minute Epoxy 4. Hobby Knife 5. Screwdrivers 6. Covering Iron 7. Engine 8. Prop 9. Fuel Line 10. Radio Gear: 4 regular size servos and 1 mini servo for throttle. Servo Information Brand: Hitec Product: HS-635HB High Torque Key Features: Dual Ball Bearings and Karbonate Gears Speed: 0.18/60 degrees AT 4.8Volt Output: 69.43 oz.in AT 4.8Volt Weight: 52.1g First step I took was I removed the covering for the hatches in the wings and the servos. Make sure you use a very sharp hobby knife to cut these holes. After cutting the holes I located the two hatches supplied and put them on. Using a small fine drill bit I drilled two holes in each hatch for the screws to go through to secure the hatch. Second I installed the servos in the wing. To me just using the screws provided with the servo works perfect installing them to this airplane. Just located a screwdriver or drill and screw the servos in. For small profiles I usually dont worry about putting some CA down the holes. It is up to you if you want to do this. As you can see in the pictures below you see that there is only one screw hole and blind nut that holds the two wings together on the fuse. The screw provided has a plywood round piece at the end so you can tighten this one screw with your fingers. This is so you dont need tools at the field to put your airplane together with. There are two dowls on one wing that slide through the body and go through the holes in the other wing. There is also a wingtube that goes through the middle to help support the wing to the fuse. The pictures show what type of setup it is. You do however need one tool to take apart the hatch when you need to insert the screw for the wings. All is needed for this is a regular small screwdriver. More pics and info coming soon. The plane is already built I am just trying to add the pictures and content in one at a time. I plan to test fly the plane tomorrow.

Hi Guys,
we have these models in the UK, excellent planes!!! superb service always quick to reply to my emails aswell. www.evolution-models.co.uk -new site on the way! good price good quality and flying charactristics.. the 'cheap' undercarrige system is actually very strong and will last a long time even with a few bumps or harrier landings, one of the strongest mounting methods of profiles out there. hope you enjoy yours as much a we do.... |
