OK, the fuse and rudder are done. The elevators are covered. The wings are hinged and covered. We are done with the flying surfaces and have the surfaces and stabs covered and hinged. Time to finish the fuselage hatch and canopy. The hatch is ALL foam and sheeting and is VERY light!

Hey Keith, Great job! Sure brings back some memories.
Did you have a finished picture you're working from for the scheme or are you creating it as you go? it is tough to keep up. You're cruising! |

He really helped me. I am pretty sure I have about 50 hours in it. I was bad about only working on it for a couple of hours at a time to keep the burnout factor down. I will in turn do the favor back by providing pics to anybody who is building one. If I can help, I will to give back...

All up weight with a little fuel in it(ooops forgot to drain it) was 24.5 lbs pre paint. I can't see it taking it to 25 lbs. It should be under 25 lbs. This is with his stock steel tail wheel, aluminum wing tube and stab tube, and aluminum landing gear. I think if some sick individual wanted to make this plane 23 lbs, he could easily. Maybe without taking any material off, just using composites. I did use li-Ion's though. That saved an ounce or 2.

You can read more about it's specs on www.bobflies.com . Its a fairly new kit and this is one of a few. This should be a good seller. Its simple and light!!!

I was looking at some of the other kits he has to offer and has anyone ever built and flown the 32.5% Extra 300L?
I know Leseberg flew the 37% version before he got his 40% Extra 400. |

Hey guys, the 32.5% 300 and the 35% 260 are the same airframe. The differences are the canopy and turtle deck, the 260's wing is shouldered up higher also. I am covering a Godfrey 260 now. The plane has been built for over 4 years, just never got around to covering it. Robert has taken the original design like mine and made some incredible updates to ease the assembly even more so than my older version. Godfrey has gone to the foam core wings from my older jig built foam rib wings. Godfrey is all CNC now. This really helps with the accurate production of parts with the proper alignment and fit. Good luck on the maiden. I am looking forward to reading about it.
PS Take a look at the Davis Acro Pro that he has released. The real acro had flat flying surface on the tail. The tail feathers in Godfreys are thin on the ends fo the scale look but taper to an airfoil at the root so that the servo can be mounted in the stab. as well as the benifits of a foiled stab. Best Regards David "Koolhand" |
