Composite-ARF 300SX is Ready!

I have finally finished building my new comp 300sx painted in the fantasy red and yellow.
I am useing a DA100 and MTW75K cans from DA.
I have 9156's on elev
9155's on ail
9152's on rud
and a 9402 on throt
I believe the finished wieght came out about 30 #
this Scheme can only be appreciated in person.
Talk about a slick finish,this one makes my Futaba scheme look well dull

I took it out for the first flight today!
Put the plane together, made sure all wires where not going to cause int.
range checked engine off no problems yesterday I walked down almost a block down the road with the antenna completely colapsed no visable int.
started the motor took a minute to get the engine started due to tha fact that

man this oplane looked good out there in the sun light!!!
my test pilot agreed the only thing left to do is fly the plane, started to taxi out to the run way turned the plane into the wind and the throttle started to glitch,shut everything down and tried to work out the bugs with no succes

we thought that the cans might be too close to the headers, moved the cans 1/2" rom the headers,took the choke wire off, left the cowl off and the canopy, tried the range test again, engine off.no probs,started the engine and still had probs, pulle the antennas out of the antenna tubes,ran thenm 90 deg. from the pull-pull wires and still had porbs.
one man said that it might be a fouled plug, motor starts too well I think

all wires and batteries are far enough away that they should not be the cause.
DA2000 said I really should try going to pcm instead of ppm, so now I am waiting on two pcm recievers to come in to try it again.

Its looking sweat!!! PCM is the way to go, i have had way to many hits like above on PPM over the years, been on PCM for sometime now and its been bullet proof...especially when dealing with so many different interference variables, can take forever to isolate and resolve....best of luck on the first flight she will fly like a dream...

I will keep posting my progress as I go and it goes, I should have taken some pictures of it at the field but forgot to bring a camera.
I am confident in my test pilots abilities.
I really don't need him but if I didn't have him out there I probably brought home a plane that you could not identify.range tests were good but I want perfect for its first flight. new recievers will be here by wed or thurs.

In the meantime, you might try swapping your ignitions and see if you still have the problem. Plus, I can't recall if you had some good foam under the ignition.

To expound on our experiences yesterday, the range check was perfect engine off. It would glitch pretty good at about 10-30 feet with the engine at idle. After we moved the cans back and removed the all metal choke pull, it seemed to improve a bunch, but still glitched.

The installation is really good Shaun, did a great job putting it together. I'm sure we'll get it all worked out.

thanks daniel, I use 1/2" foam under all electronics,but the question is do I need to go to 2 pieces of 1/2" foam, I compress the foam as much as I can so there is no chance of the unit coming out.
IT usually ends up compressed to about 3/8" or less.

DA do you mean swapping the ignition from plane to plane or left to right?

remember that all engine components came from the GP Extra 330L
I just walked in the hobby room and looked, the 1/2" foam is compressed down to about an 1/8".
What type of foam do you use?
do you think that I sould use velcro or stay with zip ties?

I am retiring the GP extra 330L and I am leaving servos minus one 9402 servo,rx,and engine, know anyone that might want it?

I stick with velcro, thinking it might not transmit the vibes as much. If it is the white latex foam rubber, that's what I use. Compress it to about half, it should stay put.

Since you have the extra ignition, it might be worth a try.

I only have the one ignition for each plane.I took the engine and ignition from my GP extra,the last time I flew that plane was when you was out there,retired the airframe and electronics.
But I can try pulling the one out of the 330L.my other comp..lol
