Why do you say this? I used Deans for my 35% airplanes, but doing a 30% YAK and was just going to use standard connectors. Learn me.

Once upon a time I was s'perimenting with a 2300 on a little 74 inch yak. Easy access and I would plug the two power leads directly into the receiver......(ya I know) too cheap to use a switch.

One day I was yakking with a guy looking at my plane and I plugged one lead in correctly into the receiver, the second upside down. I could not react fast enough to pull that plug. It fried both the 22 awg wires and melted the receiver buss bar in a blink of an eye.

If you have a real 2300 A123 the surge rating is 128 amps and 60-70 continous, and when a wire gets crossed somewhere (as in dumb thumbs or malfunction) there WILL be smoke.

I too think Hawkeye had something crossed up or something bare touching. Batteries are amazingly stable. They just don't normally go beserke.

i say this because the standard connector will only let 3.5 amps constance, and will melt at steady 4 amp draw. thats why i say if you are comming from a deans off the switch then make it into a y with 2 standard connectors going into the receiver thus allowing a total of 8 amps this is why i allways use a power expander. from a 30% plane on up..

rede, thats true about standard connectors. Guess I'll rethink my 50cc power plan. Thanks.

This bring me to another question. What about 2 batteries each using a standard connectors?

I want two battery packs for redundancy.

I would forget the expander on a 30% the reciver buss is enough. The way my system is a single deans out of the pack that y's to two seperate switches then standard connectors into reciver from each switch. This way i have a little redundency with twin switches.

yea if you are using high tork servos and doing some of the 3-d stuff you are pulling some power when you slap the sticks to full throw. and this too can cause a 2.4 to go into a brown out suitation. the servos pulling more than the connector will allow not enought power leftover for the receiver

So back to my question. What about 2 batteries each using a standard connectors? And going thru a power expander.

Yea. I posted pictures of my 50cc Pilot RC YAK-54 couple of weeks ago. Just showing how it was packed and all. Will post my progress during the build as soon as my camera gets back from the repair shop.

I bought my battery from a friend that builds packs and has everything from a vapor up to 42%ers. After talking to him sounded like a single battery with twin switches was the way to go. As long as that one deans dosn't come undone.

if you are using a power expander you wont need anything but a deans connector for each pack. the expander powers everything.
