Sounds like you'll need the PowerBox stuff joe has! Joe... what's that cost?
Thanks Matt. The price is around $200.

I would talk to Powerbox about this as the receiver is powered from the Powerbox and the only through connection to the sevos is the signal wire and to my knowledge is doide islolated.

Bill,
I agree with Alan. I would be checking the voltages of the lines from the PB that you have going into that bad rcvr. Possibly an excess voltage is getting through one line.

What is the point of the inspection if both your only flights on this plane resulted in the equipment failure?

I'm not knocking you as the flier or your choice for gear, but isn't the inspection for airworthiness? This should include all facets of the plane including electronics.

On a brighter note.....I sure love seeing these big airplanes fly! Get er fixed and bring it to Vegas!

AI had a prototype at the Joe Nall, but it was much more than $200!!! Looks like a very nice set up.

Tom
Tom,
You are talking about the new PowerBox "Royal" that they showed in prototype. They were also showing the new PowerBox RRS system for use with existing PowerBox units. The New Royal PB Unit will have this all built into one unit plus more. And yes, will cost more then $200 for the PB Royal unit.
Check out this RRS at www.powerbox-systems.com

You are absolutley correct. I need to fix this problem. The first flight today was perfect. I safely demonstrated all manuevers and had a full flight without any problems. I performed touch and goes, taxied back and performed a couple of takeoff too. So the first flight including 2 takoffs and full stop landings actually (leagaly?) counted for the certification flight. It was after 7 minutes into the second flight that this problem occured. After landing safely and demonstrating the redundant features of this plane agian, I called it quits! For all purposes, there is nothing wrong with the plane (airframe). I will change out the "faulty" equipment with a new Powerbox board and the new DDR. I will then have to re-fly the certification flight with the new equipment. I will cross that bridge agian when I get'r fixed.

Anyway, The motor was running perfect agian today. With the canisters I have discovered that it is quieter in flight. I am using the same Bolly prop as on the Edge and the canister really help with the overall foot print of noise. Vertical performance is better than my Edge. One thing that is definatley different is the tourque on this plane when compared with the Edge. With the shorter wings, the airplane does roll left when slammig full throttle. It is actually pretty cool. I think it will go to help some crazy 3D stuff after I get use to it! This plane is going to be a real winner!!!!! Thank you Weider Modelbau.

Thanks for the explanation Bill, that makes sense why they certified the plane. I don't have any experience with that part of AMA so I was wondering how hard they look at it.---I also have no doubt that you'll find the problem and fix it!

Does this mean any time you put in new electronics or servos etc......your plane must be re-certified or is there just specific electronics that require a re-cert?

It might be just me, but when ever you get the electronics just perfect, you get a engine issue. Fix the engine and the covering wrinkles. Iron down the covering and the cowl loosens up. Loctite the cowl and a muffler falls off. Get all that straightened out and you end up nicking your prop pullin the plane out of the trailer. Replace the prop, and it starts to rain.
Man, I love this hobby.

Yes, anytime you change any of the rc equipment or powerplant you must re-fly the certification flight.

Now that there is a PITA!

Once more folks start getting these larger scales maybe they will relax the rules a little.

Well.....i can say one thing , and this will probably start some sort of a debate in here ( when doesn't this topic start a debate??? )

I think bill can safely say that the " 1 receiver crowd" would of lost their airplane , while the " 2 receiver crowd" ( including bill) saved their planes so they can fly again.

Some people insist on sticking with the idea that receiver never ( or almost never) fail......well.......that $100.00 extra receiver just saved a multi thousand dollar aircraft. I'm only flying a 35% , so i'm staying with a single , anything larger , i would never fly it without two receiver's....my $.02

Jeff

PS......BTW bill....planes looks friggin' awesome man!!

Since the same side was lost 2 times with different Receivers I would Start with what is Unique to that Side. Switch and Battery.

Can you give details on your redundacy set-up?
