And the same wing After the end of the day worked on it all day and here is the final result almost done just a little sanding and some balsa on one of the ribs and she will be good as new. Then i can start on the other wing yea
.At least i'm not bored and have something to do. I could be out flying another plane but i just hate to let somethig sit all busted up after its fixed i will feel better and can continue my flight training.

Hi linkadrip, Well done, considering it is your first effort at a major repair, major due to complete spar breakage and rib crushing.I notice you butt jointed the spars prior to doubling the joint, perhaps a tapered splice prior to doubling would give added strength, however,i doubt those spars you repaired are going to come apart, nice job on the rib as well. When replacing sheeting always lay a strip of sheet under the existing sheet to give a base to lay and join the new sheeting into and for strength to the sructure.Actually the last two photos look like that is what you have done. When finished, give the wing a stress test by placing the wing tip on something firm like a table with a folded towel or whatever to protect and with one hand supporting the centre section or in this case the root of the wing and the other hand in the middle span of wing distributing pressure across the wing, firmly but not excessively, load the wing both top and bottom.Should be stiff with slight flexing and no creaking or cracking sounds.Do this with the wing tube installed and also do the test by supporting wing by the tube to check its integrity within the spars.I guess you probably allready knew all of what ive said, but,i had to say it just in case.
Looks as though at the rate your going it wont be long before she is flying again. Also check lateral ballance when setting up.![]() And again, Well Done. ![]() Cheers Craig. |

Hi linkadrip, one more thing ive noticed and you probably have already done.Dont forget to add shear webs back for the spars with grain running vertically. Not sure if they were in that area originally though but would expect them to be there anyway.Didn't look back over earlier photos to see.

Yes there are shear webs between the spars have them cut and ready to go Checked the wing loading and seems to be good way better then it was when broken and to think i flew the plane with busted wings.
That was just crazy just some balsa on top the one spar and bottom of the one spar a strip of balsa and some sanding and that wing will be done. Then i have to fix the other one and i'm sure glad the damage to it isnt as bad, still bad enough. But i'm not afraid to hack into a wing anymore. for the comments on the repair. Them digital servo's are expensive so it may take me some time before i get her flying again. I have one question about the servos atique Do you get the 90 degree ones or 180 degree rotation. http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-594...al_torque.html http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-564...al_torque.html Just wondering about that i notice tower hobbies doesn't give you the option of the degrees of rotation or direction of rotation.

Hi linkadrip, will be good to see how it looks when finished.
The place i bought my Extra from states its good for 45cc-65cc engines,it is the latest version with 26mm carbon tube wing joiner and as i have had a new in box Mvvs 58 for a while now,I am tempted to fit it up to the Extra when i start to put it together.although i reckon it would be too much engine and probably should stay with the Crrc pro GF45i.I realise if i fitted the 58cc i would need to do some beefing up of the firewall etc.Does any body have any thoughts or experience on the Mvvs 58cc and League Extra 330 as a combination? Cheers, Craig |

Hello Craig
That engine i dont think would be to big for it just make sure you beef up the firewall no matter what engine you use i epoxied mine. i know some people glass the firewall with fiberglass and resin to make it stronger. the DA 50 cc engine has been used on thes planes and i dont think that the 53 cc would be that much bigger then the 50CC and should be able to handle it. Just glue all the joins in this plane as they are only glued with a cheap wite glue. And anyplace it the plane that has any vital components need to be epoxied or glued with a strong glue. I have finished covering one wing and it looks ok i guess for my first covering job there are a few wrinkles i couldnt get out witch disappointed me ![]() But i have to consider i'm not a proffessional and ittakes time to learn how to work the Monocoat i followed the instruction that came with the monocoat and have watched several videos on covering models. I'm hoping my second wing comes out better i'll post pics after i have finnished my other wing. one thing is for sure with chrome wings it wont be hard to see on a sunny day gonna have to get some real dark sunglasses to fly it. Most likely wil put a desighn on the wings to tame the Mirrors down

Ok have the wings covered now all i need is a prop and some servos another receiver and she will be done again. Heres some pics of the covering job on the wings not the greatest but for my first covering job i guess its ok.
![]() Gonna have to get some decals or something to make it look better i'm not to pleased with the gray on the fuse and the wheels sticking out would have put the wheels skirt back on if they wouldnt have busted like eggshells in the crash migh be able to find some from a different plane to use it just doesnt look righ without them IMO but as long as it flys i guess that all that matters for now.
