LOL....Na that's all my dad's crap, hahaha. I have absolutely no idea what half of that stuff is,....much less how to use it.
Well, I dropped by his shop for just a little while after work today and cut and shaped some 1/8" ply to place in one of the "cheese" holes. Then mounted the JR heavy duty switch/charge jack assembly for my receiver battery. But that's all I had time to do. I do have the fuel tank assembled and ready to go in, but I wanted to wait until I had everything else situated up front before I installed it. So next, I'm gonna do the same thing I did today for the ignition switch. Then I'm gonna strap in the ignition battery right inside the motor box. Then I just need to fit up the cowl, and mount my McFueler scale fuel dot on the side of it, and I'll pretty much be good to go. BTW, the RIT dye on the canopy didn't really take. So I'm not sure what I'm gonna do about that. Although, I did use straight up water out of the tap outside, and I heard that it works way better if you use hot water. We'll see.....

Well tonight I cut out and shaped another piece of 1/8" ply to put in another "cheese" hole. Then I mounted the switch/charge jack for the ignition battery. Then I mounted the ignition battery inside the motor box with some zap-a-dap-a-goo. Then after I got all the wires situated up front, I finally strapped in the fuel tank. Then I began to fit my cowl. Wow....what a pain, lol. I actually ended up having to cut out a good amount to make it work. Then of course....the paint started cracking and chipping and popping off. Luckily, I already had the paint guy at work match the red paint for the wheel pants. So tomorrow I'm gonna have him tape off the white and purple and then re-paint the red. I swear man....it seems like I'm never gonna finish this thing, lol.

I know the feeling. My cowling still doesn't fit Correctly But good enough. mine the paint chipped off the front on the top and has cracks all through it. i used nail polish to cover the Chipped off paint. And used CA glue in the cracks to prevent them from getting worse. So it has some battle damage.
But my cockpit looks alot better since i redid it.. But i dont mind how it looks to much anymore. Mainly concerned about how its gonna fly again. Wont be happening for a bit. till the winds subside some. A little nervous about my Bolts up front. Even if they do vibrate loose out of the block of wood there not going to go anywere the nut will fall on top of the pitts muffler but there to large to fall through.lol Maybe you can see the damage on the cowl not to sure.

Well I'm at work now...and the paint guy decided to go ahead and add another layer of glass on the inside. That's why the paint pops off so easily is because the fiberglass is so thin and flexible....and of course the paint isn't. So I'm pretty much ready to go. I just need to put the wings on so I can figure out exactly where to place my receiver battery to balance it out. I think I'm gonna put the first couple of flights on it without the cowl so I can get the engine dialed in. I might leave off the wheel pants for a while too until I get used to the plane, so I don't mess them up.

Well I still have yet to have a chance to maiden her, but I did have it on display down at Joe Nall. Here's a pic of it completed, and sitting out on the flight line at Triple Tree Aerodrome.

Alright! Today I took the cowl back off and ran the engine for a couple of hours...breaking in, tweeking out, taxiing around, range checking, etc. I finally got it running nice and smooth after a couple of tanks, so I loaded her up and went to the field! So I left the cowl off, and I took her up for the maiden. Man! Just a couple bumps of trim and she flew beautifully! I took it real easy and got used to it and just continued to let the motor break in, but man I'm definitely surprised and satisfied! Maybe after a few more flights, I'll start doin' a little 3D with her. I'll post some pics and vids soon.

Great I havent flown mine since adding all the weight to the front.. But will here soon as soon as the weather clears up lot of rain and thunder storms latley.. Hope mine flys better this next time around. I sure hated adding a pound to the front but i think it will fly better..Glad to here yours flew good. i'm currently working on a UCanDo maidened it today had a dead stick. So i havent been messing with the extra since i added the weight but need to take it out and fly it again..
Does EastRC sell parts for the SPE 26? the web site i bought the engine from i dont think is carrying parts for it.. I have one on my twist 150 I see there add at the bottom of the page advertising the engine so i'm just curious i'm sure that i would get faster service through EastRC.

As far as 3D flight goes. It will do everything in the book and if you are worried if it will hold up, it will. I did on average of two hard blenders every flight with mine and it never came apart. The harriers are a little fast with lite to no wind but are plenty stable. Water falls are very tight if you have the elevators maxed on high rate. Make sure you have plenty of expo on high rate elevator as they are very effective. You did seal all the hinge lines right? Have fun! |

Hello, I would like to know the total weight your planes came out to, with the different engines used.

A 50CC engine is overkill in the plane but the extra weight up front is most likely a plus to get the recommended CG..

Thank you for the weight,
Are you measuring the C of G from leading edge of wing at the fuse or at the wing tip, and with plane upright or inverted. It looks more like it does now, than when I first started it ,
