Wow!!! Both planes are remarkable, truly a beautiful showing of craftmanship and TLC. IMO, planes like these are what make r/c so much fun. The scale, detail, sound....all closely resemble their full-size counterparts, which is what we strive for in creating these pieces. Great work gents, hats off to you!

Dany,

What type of smoke setup do you have on the 215 radial? What smoke fluid are you using?

I have a RCS215 on a Balsa USA Stearman and can't wait to get it up in the air.

Hello to all and thank you for the compliments!

Bill, for the smoke system/oil, contact my friend Jim Brown at jlbsur@earthlink.net

It is actually his plane we see in the video. I sold the Red 40% shown above and I am starting another one in July as I design a new 42% project (no, I won't tell what it is!)

I have to stop selling my toys and keep some for me...

WACO Fans,

For those of you who have orders pending, you won't be disappointed! I've been working on my 33% since last summer and am waiting for warmer weather to start painting again. I scored a sweet deal on an RSC250 for mine and have been running it just to hear it idle (800 rpm). It will go from 800 to 5000 rpm as fast as you can move the throttle (32 x 12 prop). Just make damn sure its anchored to your house, or something bigger.

The smoke system is a snap. Drill a No. 21 hole in the top of the exhaust manifold ring and install a 10/32 smoke fitting. Be sure and bond it in with some JB Weld, since the ring wall thickness isn't adequate for good thread engagement. Any good qauality proportionally controlled smoke system will work. Place the port as far away from the exhaust ports as possible so the oil has plenty of time to get good a nd hot. Nothing looks worse than wimpy gray smoke.

The YMF-5B had a luggage compartment just behind the pilot's cockpit. It makes a great place to install your receiver, switches, etc. I've attached some pictures of mine in the bones, which may give you some ideas. The plans leave equipment instaillation totally up to the builder.

If you're looking for first class flying wires, Try Sea Commander at http://www.seacommander.com/flyingwires.asp They have the real thing. It's the only source I've been able to find, so far.

With the growing population of these big engines, somebody ought to organize a "Rally of the Radials" fly-in, just for those of us who can't resist REAL Airplanes!!

Remember Take-off is optional, landing is mandatory.

Bob G.

P.S. Dany Racine has a real (as in pays money) job now, so he can bring us some more great beauties.

Default 1/3 Scale Barth WACO

I'll be back more often now. I have made the comittment to go with large aircraft and round engines! My Barth kit should arrive next week and the MOKI 250 shortly after...can't wait to get started.

Looking down the road has anybody here used the Stits Poly Fiber finishing system and if so comments please.
