Default Current draw: 5x5955 and 1x5625

Hi guys,

What sort of maximum current draw would you expect while conducting giants style 3D flying while running 5x5955 and 1x5625(throttle) servos? I.E. what is the maximum current draw that one would ever expect as well as average.

Anyone have actual in flight data?

Thanks,

Shaun

Shaun,

There is another thread going on about a similar sort of subject here but a quick and dirty answer with no scientific hard data to back this up is.

Your five HITEC 5955 servos have a theoretical current capacity at full load of 20 amps. Your throttle servo wont draw .5 of an amp unless you have some humongous great throttle spring on the carby.

However servos only draw maximum current while they are moving, not while they are holding so you are never ever going to see a 20 amp load on your setup unless you find a way to jam up all your servos at the same time. That wont happen.

Under normal flying you might see spikes of five to even ten amps but we are talking nano seconds here. Most good systems will handle those sorts of loads without out any adverse effects.

For your setup I would feel very comfortable with two battery packs in the 2000 Mah range, my choice would be 2600 Fromecos or something similar. Of course you need a regulator and again I would look at Fromeco or Smart-Fly for that hardware.

Then you have a bullet proof plane setup with hardware you can take with you to a bigger model later on if you so choose to go bigger.

Sorry thats not hard scientific fact but is well learned experience and that often kicks the butt of theoretical stuff.

Hope it helps.
