Default DA 170, when???

Just wondering when the DA 170 is supposed to come out?? Same bolting and muffler pattern as the 150? I saw the DA 85 at joe nall, its sweet, crazy power on a 33%.

I was told the end of the year on the 170. As far as the muffler bolt pattern, it will be the same as the 85 if it is using the same cylinder.

One of the guys at DA told me end of the year, as well. Reminded me of hearing a contractor say "about two weeks" though. Kind of a generic response to let people know they are working on it without definate progress or deadlines, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

That is not true, they might very well release it next month, but they can't say, because if they are late they will run into the BME 55xtreme ordeal,, so they really have to give a generic response

I wouldn't think that there focus would be on the 170 until the 85 is done. I am sure that the "end of the year" response is a contractor style response.

I am actually quoting a conversation that I had with Bill at Desert Aircraft 3 weeks ago - which part are suggesting "Is not true"? I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I was present during the conversation in which I was participating - that's also why I explained the statement sounded fairly generic - open-ended; non-commital; However you wish to interpret. Bottom line is that the release date - if any - has not been confirmed, or even announced for that matter. AS a matter of fact, I would ask the question - Has there been a prototype produced for testing? That is the case with the DA 85, and that one still hasn't been released to the general public. Not saying that they couldn't both make there debut tomorrow.

Always better to under-promise and over-deliver than the other way around. Keeps up a better rep that way.

I got the "end of the year" response from DA myself. I was told they do not have a prototype done. This was 2 months ago.

D. J. will not release the DA 85 or DA 170 untill he is completly happy with them both .After all his good name is on the line. Patience is a virtue and it will be well worth the wait .

I'm still confused that Keith got a huge ration of ... for the BME55. I know he took a lot of preorders for it but I've never heard that anyone got screwed out of their hard earned cash. I also know that Keith took a whole lot of ... for not releasing a motor he was obviously not happy with.

I just feel a double standard thats all and like the fact that we have such a wide variety of motors at our disposal.

I believe that BME made the mistake of accepting preorders, then continually moving out the date for release. In the end say the motor is just not good enough and scrapping it. This all happened in a "4 year" time frame. The 55 was announced on RCU Feb 2003 and pictures of the motor were on the website shortly after. Roll forward to 2007 and announce that you are not happy with the motor and you’re scrapping it to go a different direction. This is what I believe caused the bad feelings towards BME along with the insane boom of the 50cc aircraft market

Regards
Michael

Who cares about the 170? It's the DA 340 that matters!
