Alright, forget the 3w thread below(way out of my league(girl included)) these are the planes I am going to get either one of. I have narrowed it down to the comp 260 and super extra. What I like most in a plane is Imac ability as most of you know. I could not care any less about 3d capability. Its all precision in my head. So What I look for first is great tracking, such as after a snap or spin. I also like upline and down lines with no tendancies. Point rolls need to be crisp. On of the other things that I like is size. I have heard that the 260 is small for a 40%. Is this true and if so is it nocicable. I know the super extra is big so that is one up on that side. Also I like a plane that can glide and is a floater. So cast your opinion and state why. This is where it counts because now I have the money to buy the plane and not phantasize. Also if you have experience with either please give your setup and results. Thanks.

Man I have flown the 260 and it is SO good. I have seen a Super Extra fly but I haven't flown one. I can see that it does some weird snaps... Some people have complained that it does some "weird sh*t". But I can't tell you from experience. The 260, on the other hand, is very neutral and snaps very precise, they stop as soon as you let go of the stick. Rolls very nicely too, and has exceptional rudder authority.

Jason Shulman always flew the 3m Extra, even though he could fly the Super Extra if he wanted. Now adays, he flies the 260, still being able to fly the Super Extra. So.....

260 10-1 man.

PS: the 260 is not small. It is as big as any other 40%. (3 meters)

The 260 is a great plane with very good power to weight ratio on a 150 and cans, the super extra is also a great plane but flys better on a 150 with pipes. Both will do everything you want and unless you are scoring 10's on everything they are a much better plane then most pilots are flyers. That being said I have a new 260 ariving in a couple of weeks which will have DA150 on BMB pipes, power box, 1X G3 RX, Hitech 5955TG's all round(2 on each wing, 3 on rudder and one on each elevator.

Vic 3D, I have the super xtra with approx 70 flights on it. I can tell you it dosnt do any 'weird' snaps for me, my primary focus is IMAC flying, I fly in the Advanced class. It is a very, very good sequence machine. If you take the time to set up your thrust lines correctly it has very little knife coupling. About a 6% mix from memory. It also does not have any strange roll charactaristics.

I am using the 3W 157CS on cans in my super xtra, this has plenty of power to pull the model through the Advanced sequence. The super xtra is a noticebaly larger airframe than the 260, and a lot more draggy, I like this trait for IMAC flying as the up and downlines are all at a nice constant speed giving plenty of time for all the elements in your sequence.
The other nice thing about the 3.1 is the way it spins and stall turns, get it right and it is very graceful and adds that wow factor.

I have flown the 260 as well, only for a short time, it is a very straight flying machine as well, I did find it more touchy around the roll axis and that it flys faster as well, but with the right radio/model setup would most likely be just as competitive.
Also from some the guys I have spoken to flying the 260 it also needs some mixing for knife edge.

You wont be able to go wrong with either model as they are both great (from composite-arf of course!), however I will vote for the super xtra because I have one and think its a nicer looking model. That was the final reason I purchased it....... real scientific huh!

If this is a democracy, than my vote is for the 260 - and you'll probably get results similiar to our last presidential election - close to 50/50. You probably can't go wrong with either, depending on which engine you are using. I'm certain both planes can be balanced so the pitch-coupling can be eliminated entirely. Fort Imac especially. The coupling I have in my 260 (40% cCompy) comes from a tail-heavy set-up, and still takes less than 10%. with a 3W 1500 on muffs, ups and downs are constant, rolls are as axial as one would ever want, the tracking makes me look like a much better pilot than I am. I can land my 260 at a walking pace. The stall is consistant - won't even pick a wing. Very straight-forward. Seeing the wings and stabs on the thrust-line one my visual affection, though I've really enjoyed flying 30% 330s and my 34% 330. Like I said, though if it's a democracy ........ 260

I do like a plane with a wide range of speed. So if the 260 goes faster than that is what I like. Such as in a situation where you want to do a vertical snap and tail slide I like to put on full throttle and get it booken so I have an impressive vertical. What about the power systems. The only downer I can so about the super extra is the power to weight. In the 260 I plan on putting a da 150 on ks 1090 pipes. How would the power to weight be??? I would rather do mtw cans if they work good??? But what would be an unlimited power source for the super extra?

Like I said before either plane is a solid choice, just depends on what you want to look at. Both are Pro class and fly precision very well.

Anyone would be proud to own either one...

The pic of me and my Yellow Kiwi was taken 2 years ago at the Vegas Imac, that is a special picture with me and a dear friend. He used to tell me that my 260 was the baddest Comp-Arf he had ever seen fly...

I would go for the custom scheme 260...imo

I would personally choose the 260 over the super extra. I have flown both, and although I am not a big Comp-Arf fan (personal choice) I do like the way the 260 flies IMAC better. I noticed less buffeting and slower down lines with the 260 than the 3.1. As Darcy said, you won't go wrong with either one, I just find the 260 to be lighter and just a little better.

It is smaller than the Super Extra because it's a 3.1m plane, but it's not any smaller than any other 40% out there.

If you are looking at the Extra 330 take a look at DR Hobbies.com we have the composite 3.0 in stock. If not the comp 260 will be a great choice

I have had 3 composite planes.

1st one was a 2.6 Comp-Arf 330 and I really enjoyed this one. Next was a Fiber Classic Giles 202 that only was in my possession for 1 week before a mid-air took it out. Last was a 3.0M 330 and I never liked the way it flew. It didn't fly bad, I just wasn't happy with it. It flew very fast compared to other planes and was not a good match for me. There was nothing wrong with the plane, it just wasn't compatible with me.

The 260 is a standard 40% (118 inch wingspan) size.
