My friend (competes in Advanced class in IMAC) has both planes. He put over 270 flights on the 260 last year, and has over 1000 flights on his Super Extra. He said the mixing on each plane is within a few percent, and they both fly very well. The Super Extra does track marginally better, and the 260 snaps marginally better. The Super Extra does knife-edge maneuvers slightly better due to the taller canopy and broader unobstructed fuse side area.

His suggestion is to pick the one that looks best IN THE EYES OF THE PILOT, and burn as much gas as possible. The results will be about the same.

Good luck and post lots of pictures!

Having had many flights on both aircraft I would recommend the 260. As I believe it excels in IMAC.

As far as being smaller the 260 is well within the size of say a carden plane. The plane is very sleek when flying so it does not get moved around as much in the wind. The only thing that is needed would be to move the CG to about 90-95mm at the wing tip to get the snaps and spins crisp.

If you get the 260 then the DA on cans will have plenty power. As for how much more power does the 157 have..... my 157 CSTS on cans its comparable to a DA 150 running KS or BMB pipes for top end power. Turning a 28.5-12 Mejlik prop at about 5900rpms. Or a 32-10 mejlik at about the same.

For the super xtra I think the 157 or even the 170 is the better choice as you dont need to go to the hassle of installing long pipes and save a bit of weight, it also matches the model very nicely with smooth throttle response making the speed nicely controllable.

Thanks guys, I heard you got a new 260 andrew??? Well I am pretty dead set on my custom scheme 260 with pipes and a da. I will need pipes because I fly up here at 6500 feet. Thanks again for helping make the final decision.

If you wanted to go with an extra 260 then a Wild Hare is a nice choice. It might be a little smaller but I've seen it fly and I am just amazed by it's capabilities.

That is what made my mind up.

Also hit me up with that email. Thanks. Wrap sorry but I am not looking into a 33%. I already have one and this thread was strictly on 2 planes.

Just another day dream but I could also get a custom built aerotech 300 for the same price as my custom painted 260. Anyone have info on this plane in imac. Any better than the compy??? I am striving for the best I can afford

All the planes you mention will do what you want, with pro's and con's on all of them. If you cant win with one then you will not win with the other one. There is no magic solution to it except getting a good starting platform(any of the planes you mentioned) and burning s$%t loads of fuel.
