Thanks for your replies
Jason its a little black box with a dial and two buttons on it. You can match upto 4 servos on it. Basicly you stick the input cable into your receiver and the other cables into the matchbox. Use the dial to setup which servo you want to setup. Lets say your left elevator is in port 1 and your right is in port 2. Set the dial to 1. Trim the center point, then turn it past the 0 position to dial pos 6. 1-4 mean servos in normal mode. 5-8 servos are reversed. Now trim the right hand side of the elevator. Turn to pos 0, which stores the setting, and you are set to go.

I've seen them in the shops from 500 - 750. Ask Preston for a good price and you might get it for under 500. I think I paid 450 for the one I use in my Yak.

Jason the plane should not be setup at the field. Come to my house sometime during the week and we can set it up. Then when you get to the field you just have to fuel her up, do a couple of range checks and go fly. This would be like a maiden for you so no need to stress the nerves with setup issues. Also if you find something that needs to be setup or changed its better to do that in the workshop that when you are at the field.

Hi,my Saito is running again but how do I know if the timing is "IN" well enough to fly.The throttle response is good and power seems the same, not over heating or cutting out.The motor is shaking a lot though, but it only has about 4 liters of fuel through it.

Ive put in the timimg by pointing the cam gear "dot" straight down. The piston was at TDC-but Ive judged this by moving the prop and looking through the glow plug hole so its not very accurate.Non the less the motor starts and runs but I dont want to fly it till Im sure that the valve timing is 100%.

Is there any way to check this?

Hi Warren,
The Timing will have to be within one tooth of being right, or it is right, if it was out by more, the Valves would hit the top of the Piston and bend, destroying the Engine.
If you were one tooth late, then the power would be down by at least 20%, it would run probably, but not well. If you were one tooth early, the motor would also run, but would run erratic and would not idle at all.

Okay so if its 1 tooth early it would not idle.Mine is Idling(a bit rough).

So either my timing is 100% in or 1 tooth late(20% less power).Ill run it some more today and check my revs....thanks.

Its better to have an opaque fuel can as the sunlight destroys the fuel and kills the bonds between the oil and the petrol.

Just keep it in the dark and out of the sun at the field.
