I may come to the vlei tommorow to fly my little electric yak. Its better than not flying at all. If there is no wind I could fly some foam as well.

Its a pheonix models yak, about 42 inches (i think). I have an axi 28/12/10 upfront. It is not a natural 3d bird but after a few modications it flies quite well. It does amazing rollers, very axial. I had to cut away some elevator to get more rudder throw, it is very light but the thin wing makes it fly fast. Overall a good plane.

Hi guys Saturday morning and its freezing up here on the high veld, broke my tailwheel on my 260 last weekend so cant practise today.
Think I will spend the day building my comp arf Yak 55sp (100cc version) and then go to the club and fly some electrics at sunset.
Trev do you have a Digi Switch, I am looking for one for my new pattern ship

Cheers Neil.

Darn the weather is perfect in Cape Town and I can't go flying.
Got my new ThunderPower 4500mA Lipo ready for the maiden tomorrow.
Now just some charging and some petrol and we are ready to run the engine.

Will report back on the progress later

hey Neil nice to hear from you .
The switch we'v been chatting about is a MCO TECH unit which peter from Cerebus RC gave me to test. Its a single switch which is capable of running to batteries through it ( It actually has two input plugs ) so it can handle high amp draws. It feeds one rx but the really cool thing about it is that it draws equal current from both batteries during flight . OK thats the switch part
It also features a regulator system ( with a heat sink ) which uses a 2 cell lipo battery and drops the current down to 5.5v or 5v so its ignition safe aswell with no current spikes. It uses a very cool new magnetic swicthing system this has a tagg with a earth magnet in it and all you do is run the tagg over the ON part af the switch and whalla its on. To switch the unit OFF you just run it over the OFF part and its OFF. Where is technology going?????
The system also has a LED which is vissable through a 6mm hole that one has to make in the fuzz, the LED flashes when the power is on so if you think you switched your plane off but didn't then this little baby will let you know.
Peter also has the switch only unit which is the magnetic switch only and doesn't have the regulator system but I think it also has the LED. Another Great part about this system is it only weighs 38grams ( not a type O )

You can contact Peter diretcly his username is saflyer on FG and he will give you prices ect. This is a really cool item that will repalce the standard rx switch.
The quality is ablosutly outstanding its made in Germany.... I give it a out of 10.
I will post pics of the unit asap for all those interested....

I know how you feel Peter..........I just got the old 65 back 2 hours ago and I don;t think there is enough time to fit it to the EXTRA and go fly tomorow. But I have a sheduled maiden with another guys jet tomorow so atleased my fingers wont rust up over the weekend .
