That new ignition on the mvvs is sweet, the idle was super low for a new engine.
Hey D with which plane was this?

The pic's show how the front of one crankkase is mashiened to fit the back of another. Then I have added pics of the acctual cranks and how they will fit together, I hope it holds. The shaft is turned down from 15mm to 11mm to fit the back if the first crank. till allot to be done, but It should run (maybe on Wednesday)
Enjoy

Cool Andreas
All the machining work looks very neat well done. Don't you mean 90cc total ?

Sorry Trev,

By the spelling alone, you can see that’s its Monday morning. I didn’t fly the weekend, and the flu has bitten back. Not a good couple of days for me....
The Idea of joining the motors came from making a 180cc flat four, so this is only the first stage.
These GF45I's are actually very well made motors, the materials are all top notch and the fit and finish is also very good. The one I have although modified, is actually as strong as a DA50, yes you heard me right a DA50. That being said, I don't know if the guy has set up his DA right??

Regards
Andreas

Its a 180. Gave me a bit of hassels on saturday, but sorted it out, a bit lean on the low end, and had to set the pump properly.
Its really running well now, ask Damien and Peter how it was ripping the 18x8 yesterday.

We did not get to maiden the plane, but ran the engine a bit more and did range checks. The CG still has to be set. Hope to get that done for the next weekend.

First pic shows Damien trying to CG
Second show the Brain of the plane. Weatronic dual-synthesised receiver with power box functions all in one unit.
Third one show the power plant.

Specs:
Plane: CA-Model Extra 330L 33%
Servos: Hitec 5955, 2 per wing, 2 on rudder, 1 on each elevator
Receiver: weatronic 10-20R
Motor: MVVS 116 with the new lipo ignition system

On the second run I went and put the idle so low that I thought the engine would quit. But the ignition just puts in some auto-choke and she just idles and idles. Next time we are going to take some measurements of that idle, but its looooow about 700 rpm
Doing the CG on a big plane can be a pain, thats why I made these and they work fine. The best thing about them is that you can do it all by your self !!!!!

Yup it was ripping. Pitty about the sound of a glow.

I don't know, but I just don't like the sound it makes. Give me petrol any day.

After the wife made a neat takeoff with her 60 size Hanger 9 Stick one of my mates remarked that there are some guinefowl on the end of our long runway. As we have grass runways these guys cause serious damage when they start scrubbing and I kindly requested my wife to hand over her radio.

Obviously she protested and I said I just wanted to chase them away and took the radio.....She again protested and said I`m going to brake her plane! I shrugged off her comments and made a low pass but the buggers didn`t even look up. My mate commented that my pass was way behind them and too high. So I turned around to try again with the wife still protesting.....

The awfull sound of the Stick hitting the ground at full throtle was immediatly followed by the sound of a well aimed "klap" from the wife!!!

At least the I got the attention of the guinefowl....

Hi Dries

She mumbled something about a new kitchen or something!!

Must say that the unfortunate "touch and gone" was still about 50 meters away from the guinefowl on a ridge that somehow grew during the previous night.
