And that's the way a TRUE sportsman / modeler handles the situation!

*IF* this guy did it... in due time he'll get what's coming to him. Karma is a BITCH!

Sleepy did exactly what he should have. Packed it up, went home, vented (in a constructive manner), drank a few cold ones and moved on. Hats off to you. Hopefully others will learn from your experience.

Sorry about your loss Sleepy !!

at 50' every single surface on my plane goes full deflection.. no response, even my fiber optic throttle kill won't work
If this is a TRUE description of what happened, it's very unlikely it was a shoot down.

The other guy would have to have the mixing very similar to yours (ie. if your second aileron is on ch.6, he also has to have something mixed into the 6th channel) etc.

On top of that, he would have to hold all the sticks deflected fully while shotting you down. In the "accidental turn-on" scenario, everything should stay around neutral if his signal took precedence.

I just don't see that happening, unless it was on purpose. Also, if he has the Tx antenna down and yours is fully extended, it just won't be able to take over your Rx.

OK... so it wasn't shot down then... it was a complete radio failure. But just for a second. (which is possible I guess)

Either way... my plane is dead... I have a suspisious guy that left the scene, and a pile of radio gear that I'm afraid to ever use again. (Yes its going in for inspection... but MAN were talking WEEKS to get it all back!!)

So either way... My black cloud remains.

Also.. this happened in .0124 of a second.. so my perception of all surfaces going complete full over may be skewed a bit... but they did do the funky chicken..and I had ZERO control of the plane AND my optic kill did not work at all... so something happened.

I'm sure most of you know I'll be the first dude to say I'm not a pro pilot, and would also be more than willing to accept fault if I screwed up.. but unfortunately this is not the case. In fact.. I wish I had messed up a 3' KE pass and peppered the whole runway with the plane instead of this.. at least I would have felt that I earned the crash... Oh welll... it really dosen't matter at this point...
WHat matters is getting something ready to fly... Ohio's flying season is not ThAT LONG!!!

That sucks man, I'm so out of the loop I had no idea this had happened.

Your attitude is the correct one. No use crying over spilt milk for days, just move on and keep flying.

Did you check the #5 Fetzer valve?
Or the flux capacitors?
Those are usually the culprits, but the next thing to look for is a loose nut behind the gimbals.

Just yankin yer chain Sleep, I feel for your loss and I know it sucks when you can not identify a definite failure.
I would however still approach the guy and let him know that you will not charge him for the loss, that you are just trying to get a definitive answer to what may have caused the failure. For all you know he may have gotten home and opened up his transmitter carrying case and found his radio somehow got switched on and never even knew it. Stranger things have happened...

Sorry for your loss Sleepy. I love my Panzl too; no idea why they never became as popular as other designs.

How are the wings? That fuse is totally repairable (not easy - but repairable.) Al has a sale on ARF's and maybe he'll make a deal on a PAK...

If it was a shoot-down I hope the guy knows it and stews in guilt until he pays up or Karma takes over.

I dread a similar scenario. I tried 2.4 but came back to 72 for now. I'm looking forward to FAAST too.
